A question for out of state fans?

Seldom

When I do I will say something, and frequently will get a blank stare back like they maybe just got the shirt from goodwill or something :ermm:

This.....My son and I came across a sketchy guy wearing a Tennessee shirt at a fish camp on the Oregon coast. When I said "Go Vols!", he became even more wild eyed and scurried off into the brush. If any of y'all have missing relatives in Oregon, God forbid, he is most likely the reason.

Live in Jax, FL and see Vols fans all the time. My street of about 15 houses has three Tennessee fans.

Witnessed Vols represented all over the U.S.A., from Times Square to the Pacific Ocean. Even in Central America. Absolute favorite was being in Cambodia in 1985 and a rural man was wearing a power T helmet t-shirt, grinning ear to ear.

Picking up some steaks and stuff this morning at the local grocery store. Walking through the produce section and heard a woman's voice say to me, "Go Vols!" Looked up to see a random smiling face.

She had recognized my hat. As has already been attested by many here, we are everywhere.

We are, and soon we shall rule the world!

Virginia Beach/Norfolk for one more month. It's around a 7 hour drive and I get in for one or two games a year. I spot quite a few Power Ts out and about. Actually lived a mile from NochNoch or whatever his username is.

Report to the Pentagon in August. We'll see how well Tennessee is represented there.

Hattiesburg, MS here. Only about 8 Vol fans down here. I try to get back when I can to see a game. I like to attribute the commitment of Murphy to my reppin' Vols gear all over Hattiesburg. In truth, it was probably CRG that did all the work.

Pentagon? RIP Bill.

In Middle of Illinois -- I see a few every once in awhile -- A Vol fan is buried by my dad and has a power T on his headstone -- every season his family puts UT decorations on it during game days -- he was the former HS groundskeeper and died suddenly of a heart attack while mowing the field -- The HS honored him by checkerboarding the endzones orange and white (school colors are orange and black) the rest of the season that year -- mostly all I see are NFL around here not much college

Same here in southern Illinois. I see way more UK stuff than I want to because we are so close to the Kentucky border. I've had few students who went to Pat Summit's summer camp years ago and became Vols fans. I see the power T occasionally in Marion when I work as an usher for the Southern Illinois Miners independent league baseball team. I always make a comment when I see a fan in Vols gear and usually wind up in a conversation with them.

To all of the out of state fans like me, how often do you see people wearing Vols gear?

- I saw someone wearing a UT shirt at the mall up here in Lexington yesterday. I run into people quite frequently wearing orange.

How far do you travel to Neyland to watch the games and about how many games each year?

-3 1/2 hours for me. I'm hoping to come down for at least two games this year. UGA and LSU.

Its funny how you are in a completely different state than me and your trip is half as long as mine to get to Neyland..... I am right in the middle of west TN. Recruiting this area has always been a challenge for TN because we have 7 major D1 schools that are closer to my driveway than Neyland. None the less love to see big orange all of the country!!!!!

GBO

I live in Northeast Alabama (Gadsden) and I didn't see much. But recently the past year or so and started noticing the power T popping up around here. There is only 4 schools that you see swag from here UT, auburn, bama and Jacksonville State.

North Central AL is crawling with UT fans since we're so close to the line. I literally see as much AL plated vehicles with UT tags/decals in the Huntsville-Decatur corridor as I did when I lived in rural, middle TN. I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of fans around here. The subdivision we built in only has about 15-20 houses at this point and there's 4-5 UT families in here. This will be our first, full-Fall in AL so looking forward to neighborhood watch parties.

Had that happen this weekend in St Louis. I walked out of a gas station right after arriving, wearing a UT polo and the cute girl coming in had a UT t-shirt on. Held the door for her and said Go Vols, she just said yeah with an awkward smile. Not the response I was expecting.

Saw quite a few Vols fans in Alaska surprisingly. Ran into one in Kosovo. Saw plenty in Columbia, SC and Savannah, GA too.

I used to drive 6 1/2 hours (one way) when I was stationed in GA. It's about a 3 1/2 hour drive for me now.

Yankee where you living now, if you don't mind me asking? You bought a ticket off me a few years ago for the Arkansas game for one of your buddies and shared some beers at Moe's.

Clarksville. 2015. I remember. I was in SLC at the time down at Benning. That's the only game I've been to since 2014 (minus the MCB this past year).

I live just outside Jacksonville fl and you see a decent amount of vol fans. I usually get a Go Vols about once a week from some random stranger in a store

I acknowledge every piece of Vol Fandom I see. On the road I honk and wave or give the thumbs up and in person I, at the VERY LEAST, hit 'em with a "go Vols."

Unfortunately, and I'm sure a lot of other guys from out of state would agree, more than half of those fans that I actually talk to really don't know as much about UT football or basketball than most of us on here do.

Often times people will say something like "oh yeah, my nephew goes there, he got me this shirt."

I see a good bit of Tennessee clothing around savannah. See something on another driver's car on a daily basis.

I live in Northern California and I've never seen any Vol gear here. But to be fair, I hardly ever see any UCLA or USC or any other college gear either. It's a weird place, for many, many reasons...

From PA here...very few but always results in a quick chat....actually found a true vol fan where I work out...he was wearing one of the more expensive nike jackets so with that on I knew he had to be a true fan...which he is!!

Lots of us in Pa. I just met another at a local pizza place a couple of weeks ago. Need to have a get together for a game this season.

The Principal of Ben Davis High is a Vol.

Please tell me you made it into 1st Bde, 327 In Rgt. I was the Bastogne 2 about 25 years ago...

I live in Huntsville....we are everywhere here

We need to keep populating to build up the contingency around these parts for the sake of influencing recruits. As Madison County continues to grow, it's starting to produce a solid core of D-1 talent. It reminds me of Nashville in its growth infancy in that there's a lot of people not from here so they're not tied to the state schools as much as elsewhere in the state.
