A question about the Ducks' starting QB.

First off, thanks for the hospitality here over the last week. You've been great fans and your team came out and punched us square in the mouth a few times. If you stay the course, I'm thinking Dooley & Wilcox can get you back to where you're accustomed to being in the pecking order.

Many of you have no doubt seen plenty of visiting QBs playing their first "big boy" contest in Neyland.

How'd you think Oregon's QB, Darron Thomas, did on the "composure" front?

To me, he seemed pretty calm for a RS Soph in his first road start, but he also pressed the action at times and frankly got away with a possible pick in the end zone.

Nevertheless, was he more serene than you expected?

He was cool as a fan. On numerous occasions he had to make on-the-fly adjustments and convey them to his OL and skill players while running the fastest tempo offense in the US in a hostile (for 3 full Quarters) stadium.

He isn't "Iceman" cool... but he was impressively composed.

I thought he was very impressive. He really ran the zone read well and made a couple of impressive 3rd down conversions.

Eh, Oregon to this point is faster. They ran 6 fewer plays than Oklahoma did against FSU, but possessed the ball for almost 3 minutes less.

Regardless, Oklahoma was at home and Oregon was away. That's a big difference in tempo due to crowd noise and having to make individual adjustments instead of just calling it from the shotgun.

I was impressed with how he played really...you couldn't of asked for a better game for a guy making his first road start

I attribute that to Oklahoma attempting to run out the clock from the third quarter on. In the first half, FSU couldn't even get their defense set or make subs before Oklahoma was executing the next play. It's amazing to watch.

I was impressed with Thomas considering how little experience at qb he has. Once he can get his check downs hand offs and releases down quicker, their offense could score on droves on anyone.

Their offense doesn't rely on cadence to be executed. That really weakens the effect that noise will have on the game. But once Oregon realized that UT was tired, they picked up the pace big time…

Next week they play Portland State. I have them putting up at least 60 points..

When your offense is cranking, he doesn't have time to think and mess up. Go by instinct......this he can do!!
Impressive.

Thomas was exceptional for his experience level in a hostile environment. I would not bet against the Ducks this year.
