Everybody is feeling negative about Pruitt right now for good reason. However, I have noticed that people are complaining about our defense, and I thought they played good tonight. They shut Arkansas down in the first half and in the fourth quarter. What more can you ask for? In today's high scoring game you are going to give up some points. This is especially true when you have a hot doo doo offense like we do at the moment. And Pruitt is more hands on with the d-line now and I thought they looked noticeably better tonight too.

Before everyone kicks the messenger, I want to say I'm not defending Pruitt. There are a lot of reasons to criticize him and I think he will end up losing his job this year, but I don't think it is fair to criticize the defense. They have been pretty good and they don't have a whole lot of talent. They are honestly pretty mediocre.

If you also remember, our defense played well against Georgia too. Held them to limited points in the first half, and gave up several points in the second half off turnovers and just as a result of being gassed.

They played really great against Kentucky the first half, and then slowly fell apart in the second half with the rest of the team.

Alabama scored at will.

Bottom line, our defense is an average defense. With a better offense, they could be an above average defense. With a better offense, chances are we are a lot more competitive.

What??? The defense pitched a shutout in the 1st half so somebody was playing defense. U aint beating any SEC teams kicking fgs. I saw the defense get multiple sacks on consecutive drives when it mattered most in the 4th, so they gave us a chance to win. Anytime u hold a college football team to 24 points in this era u should be able to win that game. Defense wasnt perfect, nobody's defense is but we cant keep blaming the defense when the offense scores 1 TD the entire game. Who are u going to beat scoring 13 points?? We had 107 passing yards & 69 of it came in garbage time. 86 teams in the country avg more then 24 points per game and we aint one of them. Enough said.

I agree with UTK we are not good on either side. The difference 1st half was same as UGA game. The offense actually sustained af few drive and won the TOP time of possession but had to settle for 2 FG couple times. Instead of 21-0. it's 13- 0 and they go in locker room with hope and make adjustments. Arky discovered the slant 2nd half.

Honestly I think it was more Briles trying to be too cute for Arkansas than our defense. They didn't play terribly, but Briles' playcalling was a real head scratcher at times. When they ran it and ran the slants UT couldn't stop it, but for some reason he kept getting away from that. Briles' playcalling the first time they had 1st and goal from the 2 was mind-numbingly stupid. They run it like 3 times they score, yet he kept trying to set up some play action passes.

They “shut them down” in the the fourth quarter because they were running the clock out. Arkansas came out after halftime time and imposed their will in the third quarter and UT could do nothing to stop it. The defense is mediocre and the offense is horrendous

I think the game last night would have been worse if TN hadn't come out playing a 4 corners offense and burned so much time in the first half.

Let me make sure im reading this right. We should have won 13-0?? Arky has played 4 of the top 6 SEC defenses & they approached 30 on 3 of them. The difference is those teams offense could actually score. If all u can manage to score in this era of football is 13 points u dnt deserve to win. We gave up 24 not 64, thats a winnable game. Our offense is so bad that it actually inflates the special teams stats smh. We are gonna end up leading the country in punt & fg attempts.
