A players message

I feel great and am excited that the program is on the cusp of making a big step towards restoring championship caliber football. That's the kind of success I want to see. Butch had his chances. TI me to move on. You can drag the program down by crying like a little brat whose toy is being taken away or you can set your mind to something positive for the future. Choice is yours son.

i agree with the merit of this post. very few wanted failure as a means to an end.

I'm not happy about how the game ended and some play calling either but I'm going to listen here. He's still our coach.

Let's go CBJ. Live and learn.

Go Vols

THAT'S the problem! He doesn't LEARN!!!!!

I wonder who his target audience is with this tweet?

This team loves CBJ. It's not a big front they put on, they believe in him as a coach. Wish the fan base would stop wanting a new coach after every loss.

If you honestly think this "meltdown" is over one loss then you need to take a long hard look back at the previous seasons.

It's not just this loss, it's the losses to Vandy and SC last year, the three previous losses to UF.

This coaching staff has pissed away the East the past two seasons.

We literally got beat by a team who hadn't scored an Offensive TD in four games, think about that for a moment.

That's almost as bad as getting beat by a WR playing QB, but at least that UK team had scored an Offensive TD in previous games.
:good!::good!::good!::good!:

But we HATE the program:eek:k:

Maybe the players should get their own spray paint and put their own message on the rock ... this meltdown over 1 loss by some of this fan base is utter stupidity at its finest.
This is more than about one loss. This is about horrific coaching blunders in several games. It's about losing to teams with clear talent disparities. It's about zero wins against the SEC West. It's about stupid cliches and silly trash can, 5 star hearts, life champions antics that our rivals and the national media pounce on. It's about not accepting accountability and making excuses. It's about 1-4 against some of the worst Florida teams in 30 years. It's about poor game management all the damn time. It's about having high standards in winning that aren't being met. It's about not utilizing or poorly managing some of our more talented players. It's about not having the team ready to play with any consistency and almost always having slow starts. It's about condescension in press conferences and towards the fans.

Unless he can pull off the unthinkable, and beat either UGA or LSU or Bama and win the rest, then it's just time. Five years of winning nothing isn't accepted at any of our rivals in the SEC. Why should we have lower standards than them?

I've been a fan a lot longer than any of the players on the team have been associated with the program.

Think I have a right to have my own opinion at this point. We have a coach who is 14-19 in 4+ seasons in the SEC.

That won't get it done long term at TN.

The only thing keeping Butch Jones afloat at this point is his ridiculous buyout. Thanks again, Hart.

I will give credit to Hart for getting the program out of the red so that they could handle the buyout easier.

What will really get Jones out the door is fan apathy and the upper deck at Neyland being empty.

He is well on his way with the fan apathy part. One year after another of blown opportunities, sloppy play, and underachieving and he has no one to blame but himself for the discord and backlash. Not Dooley, not the fans, not being constricted by the "culture" of UT.

It's going to be interesting to say the least to see how this season plays out.

Jones switching to Sexton in the off season sends a signal that he is going to be angling for an extension. He sure didn't make a strong case for it last week.

Thank heaven the players haven't quit on the team like many so called Vol fans.

If they are still on here, watching games going to games etc, they haven't quit. Not happy that first rate players are coached by second rate coach. The players haven't been coached by a first rate college coach so they don't know any better so yes the still support him, and should as long as the people in charge let him stay

Ive seen one dude say that and he was called out by both sides. And the one saying it is generally known as a pumper.

Ive seen several saying something along the lines of "knowing our luck we will beat [insert team here] and watch Jones beat UGA, figures and yes the poster that would be pissed off if we won.

I dont play the negavol/pumper game. Either your a fan or your not. Either you have common sense or you dont. I really dont care what classification you put on somebody other than a Vol, or not.

Lies. Shame on you. Once people got over not getting the big name, Jones had near universal support through three seasons despite the fact that we should've won the east in 2015. Butch has earned what's coming with his sorry, condescending attitude towards the fans, lack of player development, and horrible game management. Take your holier than thou schtick and stick it son.

Well said. Jones had nearly universal support at the start, and through his lackluster on job performance has lost most of it.

LOL! So having high standards for the team makes you only a "so called" Vol fan?! Those who can just shrug off a game like Saturdays are what I, personally, would call the average spectator who isn't that invested. Mindlessly supporting the coach's poor decisions is called not thinking for yourself, sweetheart. Anyone with critical thinking skills would see reason to be upset over what we watched on Saturday.

Signed, one of those people you would call a "so called" fan. Do better.

14-19 in the SEC....

This^.

Even if you give him a pass for the 1st season post Dooley and take out the 2 - 6, we are still 12-13. You want to coach at UT, you must win the SEC games.

For me, close out 2017 with only a loss to Bama and change the narrative. Prove you are the coach, you think you are.

Poor execution = poor coaching/plyer development.

Probably the best thing that can happen for this Tennessee football team is for the "Fair Weather" Tennessee fans to continue their whining and complaining, especially about Coach Jones. Hopefully at some point this is going to rally the players, even more, to support their coach and they will play "lights out" for the rest of the season. The opponents are difficult enough to defeat. Our players and coaches now are having to overcome our negative fan base before they can focus on defeating the opponents on our schedule. It makes you consider, who are the toughest opponents?

I'm sure we can all come up with reasons to dump on our players for backing the HC.

Would it be so bad to respect their wishes?

I'm starting to think our football team is just a massive cult and Butch has them drinking the koolaid. They obviously aren't being properly taught the game of American football.

Maybe it's the lot like you whose livelihoods seem to somehow depend on how well teenagers play a game. It's truly pathetic
