I have been a for Dooley since he has been here. But i believe it is time for a change. If you do not believe a coach can make a big difference. Look at the NFL and the 49ers. They were bad until Jim Harbaugh took over. Now they are one of the best in the NFL. I know it is the NFL. But the right coach can make a big difference.

You're exactly correct. Look at the 49's and the Saints. Coaching matters.

Add me to the "agreed" list. In college, too, well coached teams will find ways to win against better opponents, and vice versa. Look at AR...

Look what Bobby did in Arkansas. He rode that thing until the wheels fell off, and no I'm not talking about the assistant :-D

Maybe, maybe not. But like any CEO he is responsible for performance he gets paid big bucks to succeed and lots of perks. The time has come to hold him accountable. He should be financially set for life better than can be said for our football team.

Sorry, my friend, but I respectably disagree with you. I have always supported my team and coaches but a better coach would be doing more with are current roster.

I think we have proven that hiring Saban assistants just shows that a lot of people can coach when they are loaded with 5 star talent. If we can make a big splash with a big name coach (e.g. Gruden), I'm all for it. If not, then my ideal coach would be a guy that took over a run-down program, and immediately showed marked improvement with sub-par talent. Then, he proceeded to make further improvements over the next few years as he out-recruited his opponents and brought in better players.

Dooley has the players, he just does not know how to coach them. AND why get surgery in the middle of the year when something has been bothering you before the season started. DOOLEY HAS TO GO. I mean PHILOSOPHICALLY he's a terrible coach

I, too, used to be on the Dooley train, but I think enough is enough. The more I sit back and think, it's just unacceptable.

He's coached 19 SEC games and won four of them. He's 0-20 against ranked teams. I mean he's in year three and we're still 0-3 in SEC play and can't be MSU. He's a great guy, just not the man for the job.

You know I have been for Dooley up until a couple weeks ago. I always thought that we lacked solid depth (and still do I some positions) but most of all I thought we were short on playmakers. But this year we have had more play makers then arguably every team we have played up to this point. We clearly had more talent, team speed, and elusive players than miss state last night. Our coaching and discipline on defense was lacking in a huge way. But what really surprised me, our defense got the stops it needed in the third and our offense had the chance to take the lead 2 times. We just couldn't move the ball and take the lead back. It took getting down by 10 for the offense to have that aggressive mentality. Really disappointing. Same thing happened against UGA

There are plenty of playmakers and they are making plays. The problem is that they are all on one side of the ball. The bottom line is that the defense is awful. When you score in the 30's and 40's you should win.

We clearly had the advantage in talent last night. Everyone could see that. Even the announcers. We have about 3-4 players on offense that are electric and can take it to the house at anytime. Arguably we have more than that. Patterson, hunter (who is still skittish and afraid to get hurt), Neal (always one broken tackle away it seems like), and pig (who I was pleased with). Honestly you could add young and Watson into that category but Watson still needs work on vision and not going outside everytime.

As an optimist, you could say that we're "halfway" there... :eek:lol:

And these kids are Dooley's recruits. Except the seniors. Dooley was brought in here to clean this program up. And he has done a good job at that. I think sometime if a kid has had some kind of trouble Dooley will not look at him. The kids we have lack some attitude. Look at Florida,Alabama,LSU players. They had an attitude. We are like chior boys sometime. Which fits Dooley's style.

You must be basing your talent evaluation on how they perform on the field. That has a LOT to do with coaching.

While a long way from being perfect, Rivals ranked these classes as follows (average of 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012):

Alabama #2
Florida #7
Georgia #11
Tennessee #12
South Carolina #15
Kentucky #54
Vanderbilt #58

The talent is there, my friend.

Did anyone hear Chuck Cavalaris this morning on the Sports Source? He made a case where Hart may keep Dooley. They were weighing the financial impact of keeping Dooley and making a change. Short term it appears cost prohibitive to make a change.

But they did say if you were to get the right coach it could be a financial boom.

The financial issue does play a part in this; however, they are losing so much money from season ticket holders not renewing, people not attending, no bowl/lower tier bowl revenues, etc. that they may be willing to do it anyway.
