Coleman Thomas got first team reps at center today (I assume first team). Is this a good omen for the future? And not just the bowl game, but next season and beyond? This obviously effects our tackle depth, but how could this help us?

Taking a guess here: we now have a center that can captain the O-line? :thud:
When a team is beat up like we are there are all kinds of changes tried...just to see if it could work. Our O-line is in a very bad way. :yes:

Not sure but I think that's his true position anyway, right? I don't think we ever recruited him to be a tackle... just kinda had to step in this year.

Has Blair every got in shape yet and know the playbook yet and what is Charles Mosley position, if them to could come thru for us that would be a huge factory for the OL going forward.

Always good to have a couple of guys who just dont have the ability to snap the ball, but understand the position IMO

Slightly off topic but what does raulerson project to play? I know he looked way undersized coming in but he has had almost a full year now as an early enrollee and it could have just been coach talk but I remember hearing he had a little mean streak which seemed to be missing from our line this year.

Thomas' best position is center. That is really what he was recruited to become. He will be better than Crowder who will become the backup. Robertson and Jackson at guards should be set. The two tackle positions should be filled by Blair at LT and Mosley at RT. If both are healthy and in shape they could be the difference...we also have three freshman OL who can compete at tackle...with Kendrick, Keyberson, Raulerson, Weisman and Saunders vying for OG and OT backups.

That is my understanding as well. Crowder will be a RS Sr. I personally like Wiesman but he left a good bit to be desired when he moved to C... probably better at OG.

Kerbyson at LT and Thomas at RT were difficult to watch. Both gave everything they had but neither was cut out to play the position they were playing.

Unless Crowder gets hurt, there is almost zero chance that Thomas takes over for a RS Sr. Crowder has more talent than many give him credit for.

More than likely the OG's will be who you say and the RT will be Kerbyson. The position that kept them from being good this year and is the biggest question for next year is LT. If Blair or someone else can play well there then the OL should take a nice step forward.


This year we were told that a lack of experience and development caused the OL to be subpar. Putting Thomas ahead of Crowder and Moseley ahead of Kerbyson plus inserting a new LT (which they will do IMO) would be like stepping right back into the same situation.

Contingency IMHO! Coleman was a center in High School. Wiesman had some funny snaps during last two games, so that is probably why.

If I recall correctly...Thomas was the No 1 Center coming out of HS. Considering the number of teams that in and of itself is quite impressive. He may have the body type to move to a different position, but center may be his natural position. Not saying he should replace a healthy Crowder if the dude is healthy and better....but just stating the facts at recruitment.

I really think folks are forgetting that most of this O line played out of position this year. Whether out of necessity or due to poor decision...which none of us really know...getting guys better suited and ready to play in their "natural" position will be beneficial for the OL in the future. And, I fundamentally believe this was the bane of our offense for most the year....just can't figure who to "blame" it on at this point.

I thought that Raulerson and Wiesman were both projected to be OGs. And Coleman was projected to be the next center after Crowder. Injuries forced Coleman to OT, but I think next year we will see everyone settling into their normal positions. Of course, injuries will have a say in that. I just hope that Blair continues to develop and becomes the LT starter.

I would be shocked if Crowder is not the starting center next season. I cannot see taking the most experienced lineman we have left off of a line that will be in dire need of whatever maturity they can find.

There was some funky snaps while he was out and I would assume this is setting up the backup plan.

Kerbyson played much better at guard than Jackson - although it was only for a short period of time. If we can find two tackles Kerbyson will be 1st team guard

It really takes a super agile big man to play tackle, especially in the SEC. There is so much lateral quickness involved. It is like Shaq trying to man up Lebron.

We have a factory for OL ? They must have been on strike this year...:)

I've yet to see an update on Crowder's status. Anyone?
CT getting snaps means Mack is likely still on the shelf. It's been long enough since injury for him to be healed up.

Wiseman had some really poor snaps in the Vanderbilt game.

Probably working on a contingency in case Crowder can't go for the bowl game.
