"You got ripped off" we know that, and telling us over and over how bad we have had it didn't help the apology.

He's right.. Tennessee fans should be mad as hell at this Administration and how this season went. If they run another ho hum hire out there tomorrow then i'd say they're getting ready to see just how mad many of them are. Poor leadership has made a joke out of one of the proudest programs and fan bases in college football. Good job azzclowns. Now run Mullen out there tomorrow so it will take 3 years to get back to winning 8 games a year.

He is right, and I needed to hear it. I just wish it would have come from the administration, former coaches, and former ADs. It's because of them we are in this shape.

The best apology would be a home run hire (I.e. Gruden, Frost, Petersen, or some of their coach with a proven championship track record). Hiring another up and comer or washed up coach whose track record clearly demonstrates that he isn't going to win championships at the Dollar Tree would've a slap in the face to this fan base.

Butch is not going to apologize for this mess. He knew coming in to this season that he was on the hot seat, yet he still wouldn't do anything to save his job. That's completely arrogant on his part, which is why he will not apologize for the mess that was Tennessee football this year. That would mean he had to admit being wrong about his "infallible" system.

It amazes me we can spend 340 million on a stadium renovations. I will be upset if they go get some cheap coach because the price is right.... Aka Dollar Tree....they can't pull the wool over little heads this time and say they couldn't afford to hire an elite coach.

It's just football. It's not like it actually matters. Maybe we could all find something better to do with our time than waste it on a UT admin that hasn't caree in a long time.

He's stating the obvious, but the point is valid. He's also spot on that Currie had better nail this next hire. Frankly, I've found giving up on MLB after Glavin leading the game into yet another damned strike to be difficult, but one recovers. Haven't watched a game since that year. Don't miss it at all now. Made giving up on the NFL super easy. Yes, I know turning my back on UT after over 50 years of watching will be more difficult, but I've gone from over $35k in donations and Terrace seating to not having attended a UT game in 2 years to not watching more than one half of football against USC this year plus the last couple of minutes yesterday.

The admin keeps giving us hot garbage and calling it SEC football. Well, enough is enough. They get this one right and get this program back on the right track or they will have to find other suckers to bleed money from. Got far better ways to spend my Saturday's and far better ways to spend my hard earned entertainment dollars. Yeah, I know a single fan won't make a bit of difference to UT, but I suspect there are a ton of folks just like me who are sick and tired of this and who are at a tipping point. So yeah, Currie better apologize the right way...pay what it takes and give us a damned good football coach. If not, I can think of several fine charities that would be happy to get my money. Hey....I get my write off either way.

He’s absolutely right. If UT doesn’t get this hire right, people will quit going to the games. Why spend all that time and money on a garbage product when you can watch it at home on a HD or 4K tv?

Heck no Butch isn’t going to apologize. He despised the expectations here and was so thin skinned at the mere notion that something might be his fault.

I don't understand why anyone would want to give to this football program personally, but it's their money. Throw it away if they wish. I've been a fan for 49 years, but the last 12 to 13 has taught me that living and breathing this crap is nuts. For many years I posted at another site that like this football program has all but died. Perhaps a once legendary poster and diehard UT fan who has passed on was right when he said the glory days of UT football were likely over. He was ridiculed mercilessly for saying it. Another old timer on that board said the admin and board at UT were killing this program. He too was made fun of for stating this as early as 2005. The good news for me and I bet a ton of other former fanatical Vol fans is that I woke up this morning after 1. A historically bad season with all the stats Rucker gave in his article and 2. No solid indications that UT will make changes that bring us back any time soon. I guess I'm officially apathetic. Here's to my alma mater! My heart, nerves, emotions and stomach thank you.

Feel the same way.A lot of my friends also. I don't have 50 yrs invested but I've got 35. I'm at my breaking point.Currie step up and restore my faith!

I've had season tickets for 37 yrs and I attended one game this yr (Georgia) and left at end of 3rd qtr. I probably won't be a season ticket holder 38 yrs if they hire some cheap ass clown.

Spending money on the stadium with another "CEO coach" is like putting a pretty dress on a ugly woman.

My deceased parents were long time ticket holders. They/I gave because we thought we were supporting something special, something we wanted to make bigger and better. We'd had season tickets in the family since the 50s. It was something we loved. I joked....kind of...about the deduction. This was something we were passionate about. They passed before this nose dive so they never lost that passion. This admin can't expect fans to continue to donate, show up every Saturday, buy $5 bottled water and support this abomination that is UT football. They just won't do it without hope. This hire will either provide it or not. Speaking just for myself, but it's getting easier to simply do other things, be other places and spend money elsewhere. There's no joy in UT football anymore. Miserable is about the only way to say it. As you said, you don't know why fans keep giving UT money. This is my long winded rant saying I'm now asking myself that very question. If this hire isn't what Currie said it would be, you will have company.
