OP is right. Coaches can only put u in position to make the play. They can't make it for you. And sometimes the other coaches put their players in that position. No coach is never out schemed or surprised.
Improving every players ability is impossible. Some just have a ceiling. They can't get better. That is where Tennessee is in the secondary. McNeil, Randolph and Mosely are what they are at this point. Some players have improved. But the OL is playing 2 guards at OT. Tackles can play guard. Guards struggle playing tackle. some of you may not be able to understand this.
Games are usually determined between two even teams by someone making a great play or series of plays. OU receiver Shepard made a great catch to tie the game. Seen any Tennessee WRs make a similar play? Calloway of UF made a great play. Tennessee isn't making those kind of plays. Totally opposite. Jmo.
This all day. To me, despite the coaching malfunctions, the defense did not make plays, and while I love the guy, the quarterback failed to make the plays. Look at the throws Florida's qb made down the stretch under the gun. That 4th down sideline throw was a playmaker play. Dobbs can make those plays with his feet, his arm is not going to beat you. Coaches need to put the tools on the field IMO for him to succeed, i.e. 2 tight end sets or play under center with the power I. But what do I know? Just sayin'....
