Well, for starters, UT would be 3-1 with a competent QB. The first game is at least a 14 point win and UGA game is close and doesn't end up a blowout in the 2nd half. I've hoped that JG turns it on, but it wont happen and haven't talked down about the QB position much the last 2 years even though I knew it needed improvement. There's certain things that a QB needs and leadership skills I would argue are just as, if not more important than the physical tools. JG does not have them skills and hasn't developed any since hes been at UT. Any other good QB, NFL or College or even high school, is going up down the field after meeting with his QB coach after a series and helping get the guys ready to go back out there (even when the QB did something bad). JG sits by himself or if hes with his group, he doesn't do anything or open his mouth. Just looks like hes sitting there feeling sorry for himself. That alone, would get a QB benched on my team, IMO. The offense tends to take the identity of the QB, and its obvious they gave up. Another thing, teams that respect and truly like their QB, the OL helps them up after a sack. I could be mistaken but I haven't seen him get picked up by any of his OL this season. After his 2nd pick 6, Blakely tried to talk to Guarantano and encourage him, but JG wouldn't even acknowledge him from what it looks like. What would this team look like with a QB remotely equivalent to Mac Jones? No chain is stronger than the weakest link.

Mac Jones would stink here, especially on the 2018 and 2019 teams. He'd be better than JG, but not an upper tier SEC QB. He wouldn't have great protection, wouldn't have a great running game, and wouldn't have WRs who are great route runners and create a lot of separation. What would this team look like with a QB remotely equivalent to Mac Jones? Dave Clawson has been successful EVERYWHERE he's been, EXCEPT the one year at UT. That should tell you it wasn't about him at all
LOL....several years????????????????????????????? I stand by my post but will still drop down and hell, give you 50good grief
DClaw came in with an entirely different playbook, terminology and the need for a different skillset amongst the players. We would've needed to stick with him for several years to get the O in place and recruited the style of players for his gameplan..
Take a lap and then drop and give me 20
He's not the "only" problem. But he is a problem at QB.... the most critical position on the field. His problems magnify the problems of everyone else. You can play with a bunch of "role players" on the OL, at WR, and RB. Your QB in this era of football cannot be a role player... he can't just be a "game manager" even if JG's turnovers allowed him to be that. Your QB needs to be a playmaker... a positive difference maker. JG isn't. What he is capable of doing is just too limited.JG is a problem
