A loss to Vandy trumps a combined UGA/Gator win

I long for the attitude we had before our last two coaches when UT fans didn't countenance the thought of losing to Vandy. Now that it's happened, it seems to some to be less tragic than it should be. The fact is, we should never lose to Vandy, or deem it acceptable. We most certainly shouldn't equivocate it as ok just because we beat somebody else.

Flame away. Nothing else will come close to disappointing me as much as how accepting we've become of mediocrity.

This is the most ignorant post I have seen you make and thats saying something.

I am guessing people can't resist to post stuff that has not happen.........just sayin.....WTF, it just proves that people say things just to say things....no substance, no support, no data, just a bunch of MSU! geesh! this crap is getting old on here.

What does "just saying" mean in all these posts on the internet?

It frequently means "not reasoning clearly enough to articulate a compelling, coherent thought on the matter" or "shot my wad in the thread title and really can't think of anything more to say about it"

Just sayin'...

Just saying

I don't think it should. Now while it is popular to entertain a program such as Vanderbilt as being a low rung bottom feeder of bad football that does not necessarily mean that they can never have a decent team who is capable of winning. They may be a joke program over the past 60 years but what has that to do with the team that takes the field on Saturday? Absolutely nothing. Honestly, I love my Vols but I think Vanderbilt has fielded a better team than Tennessee over the past three weeks. Certainly, Tennessee's offense has been putting points on the board but I don't think anyone disputes that Vanderbilt has a much tougher defense than opponents such as Kentucky and Mizzou which includes a finalist for top linebacker in Div. I. Secondly, Vanderbilt seems to have found some offensive prowess the last few weeks and does have a good running game which does not bode well for a very poor Tennessee run defense. Honestly, I think Vandy is not Candy this year and is going to win this game. Don't want them to but I think the Vols are in trouble with this one unless the defense somehow miraculously improves.

Most reasoned post in the thread. Fans need to respect opponents and recognize when a rival is having a strong year. Vandy is playing exceptionally well right now and has had a good season. Vols, Ole Miss, and Texas A&M are worse than earlier in season due to injuries. If Tennessee can win last 3 sec games with 1 defensive tackle left - that is quite a feat. I agree defense has to miraculously improve or it could be a long night.

I have fun reading posts from the negas who seem to gradually become progressively unglued during the week and their fears extend from the past into the future. "Butch lost games he should have won - he has hit his ceiling - Shoop is a dummy, the program will crash with a loss to Vandy, blah blah blah." Funny stuff to watch.
