A Look into the Minds of the Intelligent USCjr Fans

Sounds like an oxymoron to me.

I found this when glancing at Cockytalk and thought some of you would find it amusing. I think this "crowd generated" rooster crow might be a great recruiting tool for them...:eek:lol::crazy:

From Cocky Talk
What would it take....
Ok guys and gals,

I have seen it mentioned in several threads that we should start a "crowd generated" rooster crow. I think its a great idea, it would sounds pretty freaking awesome if the 80,000 fans did the rooster crow.

But, what would it take to get it started? I guess the biggest two obstacles would be A) the timing of the crow, ie getting everyone to do it together and B) making people aware that they should do the crow.

How do these types of things get started? Anyone else on board with this?

It would be funny as hell if they got this started by playing a recording of the voice on those old See and Say's, " The rooster says?" and then all of their fans crowing like like idiots!

Dear God, I may have started a gamechicken tradition...

Wow, I am stunned.

First CNB and now this. Literacy, correct spelling, almost nailed the verb usage, mathematical competency...

You guys are nothing like the gamecock fans we have all come to know and love...

I keed, I keed, fans lkike you guys are welcome by me... :clapping:

Thanks and ditto. There are always good and bad UT fans on our boards. Some are welcome because of good "football speak", other's are just talking trash. I enjoy SEC football and the debates that go with it. BTW what's your prediction?

Good thread, finally!

Admittedly, I haven't watched South Carolina play. I'm a student and had been to every game up to the Bama game. Game days and tailgating take up alot of time!

I'm really thinking that a big play by either team will break the others back. Looking at those special teams stats, it could be on a kickoff. I think Nuke has been steadily improving, and I am waiting for him to break a long one. Also, If Garcia trys to throw some long balls, they could end up in the hands of Eric Berry. Like others have said, we do not give up big plays. If SC has a big play, it will have to come on special teams or defense. As always, Crompton has to have a good game and protect the ball. If he can open the passing game up, it will mean big things for our run game.

Final score: UT 24, USCjr 13 :hi:

I think Tennessee might be a bit flat in the first half coming off of the Bama game. Spurrier always gets his team up for Tennessee. It will be very difficult for either team to score, but I like Tennessee's chances better in the red zone. As I posted earlier, we have only given up long TD drives this year to Florida and Auburn. Everything else is FGs unless you can get Crompton to turn the ball over, and he has been a totally different QB for the last 9 quarters. Monte will make Garcia dink and dunk the ball down the field, no big pass plays, and I am not sure he can consistently do that without making mistakes. So I think it will be S Carolina by 3, or tied at the half, and Tenn will pull it out in the 4th. Mainly because we will be able to run the ball in the 4th in the red zone and we are playing at home. Tenn by 7-10.

I think that it will be a close game but I like where TN is mentally right now. Things seem to be clicking and I wouldnt want to be playing us right now if I were USC JR. But Spurrier is very crafty and would love to beat Kiffin so he could talk a little smack himself, and Norwood is an absolute beast. He is probably in the top 3-4 defensive players in the SEC in my opinion. I think USC's D will hold up pretty good but of course we will win by 10-14 imo.

With the special teams on both sides of the ball in this game I wouldn't be surprised if both teams start off inside the 40 a lot.
touche

Kick off defense:
USC is ranked 114th, giving up 26.08 yds per kick, 2 td'sand only 1 touchback.
Tenn is ranked 117, giving up 28.06 yds per kick, 2 td's and 4 touchbacks

Punting D not much better
USC #98, giving up 13.0 yds per kick, 0 td's
Tenn #76, giving up9.92 yds per kick, 0 td's

This game may go down to who does not give up a couple of big plays on special teams
Welcome to the board.

I just hope that we don't allow any 99 yard returns. That just KILLS our chances.

CNB, you around? A question for you if you don't mind. You seem to have very good insights on your program.

We've been raggin' on y'all a lot about your historical lack of success. I've never quite understood why this has been the case. SC has a lot of talent for a small state and has produced quite a few brutes over the years. Is it the fact that the state is small and trying to support two Div 1 schools or is it that others schools is raiding the talent or have your coaches just been bad? It always irks me to see good players from the state of TN go somewhere else.

You guy's get on us when we say something negative, but you constantly refer to us as USC jr. Just saying! Everyone is looking at Alshon but I believe Gurly will have a great day because of the "Alshon effect" same size and speed. EB can not cover both! Brown may have a say as well. Saunders is back at TE. Lot of targets that we did not in recent games. Garcia's stats are better than people realize. He will make some plays. Good luck, I hope none of our kids are hurt. Prediction USC sr 24--UT- 17

Well to take off the garnet-colored glasses for now it's hard not to support a team you grew up around. Not to mention if said team hasn't ever won anything of value, then mediocrity is celebrated. Sure as hell beats sucking -coughkentuckycough-.

We just aren't spoiled with a rich tradition like the Tennessee's and Alabama's of the nation. If that makes me less of a fan than so be it. I'm still going to support my team no matter what.

Hats off to you, well said.

It's hard in recruiting when you have Clemson in state, and Georgia and Florida on either side of you. Also, in years past the players we have gotten, the majority haven't had the effort. They just give up when losing, give up on the season, half effort, etc. A good example would be last year. We were a good team up until that 56-6 thumping by South Carolina. The next two games there was no effort or heart and we lost to Clemson (as usual) and Iowa.

I'm rambling. Basically with the success of the surrounding schools, it is hard to get top notch talent. Sure we snag a few, but they go unnoticed if they don't have playmakers around them.

I'm not CNB but I would love to answer this. In my opinion our greatest feat was beating OSU 2 years in a row in the Outback Bowl. The last team to beat them before they won the BCS. That being said, Untill just recently our top prospects from SC have left the state. We have just begun to keep a great number of these to stay and we do well in FL, GA and etc.. I believe we are well on our way with Alshon and more to keep our instate 4 and 5 star recruits.

Prove it. I'd believe a humble kid like Alshon Jeffery AND his coach AND his teammate over that liar of a head coach you have.

Kiffin has taken credit for every comment, he has made since he has been here, save 1. Why would he not take credit for this? IF he said it.

Thanks for the replies, Steel and CNB.

Tennessee has traditionally done very well in western NC and at times in SC. I've often thought that one of the problems we had in the late 70's and early 80's was Clemson coming out of the woodwork. We had a great stretch from '67 through about '74 and Clemson sucked then. We hit bottom in '77 (of course when I was there) and then Clemson put all those great teams together.

Seems we both have the same issue with in-state talent. Neither state is Florida or California where they can afford to let talent leave and still have plenty to go around.

GREAT question. I wonder why he wouldn't take credit for talking down a high school kid because he didn't sign with his team? :dunno:

BTW, congrats on beating Ohio State both time your played them. OSU has never beaten an SEC team in a bowl game. In fact, all-time that have only won 3 games against SEC teams (Kentucky and Vandy all before '35) and tied Auburn once.

Regarding the rooster crow cheer... it's a bad idea.

I think several Vols fans would probably be willing to provide personal testimonies about feeling like doofuses when Tennessee used to play that stupid "Smokey is on the prowl" recording, and then everyone was supposed to howl. It was just awful... in the worst imaginable, ginned-up, forced-attempt-to-start-a-corny-new-tradition-that-nobody-likes kind of way. Awful.

You guys have at it, but you'll feel sorry.
