That should help shut those of you that don't want this kid up.
I was a little busy earlier, but I told Kevin about the first time I saw Gray. Down in Miami at the South Florida Express tryouts, all the top names were there. Immediately Daniel Gray was the guy that nobody knew about, but looked like he could play.

After watching him for a while, I wouldn't say he was one of the best prospects there, but his raw physical ability was on par with any of the other big names there...Duke Johnson, Stacey Coley, Deon Bush, Tracy Howard.

Everything down in Miami is a little different from what you are used to seeing. At the end they weren't running 40's, but they were racing them. First time up, Gray smoked Tracy Howard in a 40 yard race. Then they all ran, Duke, Howard and some others. Gray won again, this time he looked over his shoulder at Duke Johnson who was trailing him.

Kids got elite speed. The rest needs work, but I believe it'll come. Watch those highlights, the unteachable stuff like his speed and the "want-to" to hit somebody is there. The rest can be taught.

Damn LawVol,,,couldn't you have waited until the morning? I won't sleep at all tonight. I am excited to see this kid in orange. He's bigger than Rainey but post's about the same speed. Raw speed, and from his video he loves to put his nose where it counts. Thanks for the post.

Why no one would want him in orange is crazy, but I keep forgetting our fan base does have a few nut jobs. Thanks Law

I know. Lets turn away legit 4.3 speed because the player is "raw". You know, like 90% of high school players-with another 50% of those switching to brand new positions when they get to school anyway.

Everyone's hero Saban takes a couple like this every year, what's the big deal? Tennessee needs some speed. Isn't everyone tired of watching guys like Demps and Rainey run right by most of our defense.

Not only do we have a bunch of armchair coaches around here, looks like we have some that think they can do a better job recruiting from behind their computer screen.

Maybe Dooley should just call up those desk jockeys at Rivals and ask them who he should go after since they got it down pat and never miss on anyone.

Don't you realize that those who don't want him in Orange are the ones who know more about coaching football than any coach in the business, at least they think they do. Ignore these people like the plague and hopefully they will go away.

Thanks for the post, LawVol. I love pick ups like this. Usually they are sponges for learning the position. With CJW "assisting" CTJ this kid could develop into something special.

Well...I totally agree with LawVol...CDD always looks for threat one kid that can make an impact on the team...Raw speed is something you can’t coach...all other skills can be coach up....Speed is the tool that lets a young player get on the field sooner...because he can make up for mistakes quicker than someone that has to play a perfect game to be EFFECTIVE. I think that is how D.Young made it to Knoxville....speed

The ones on here who make fun of CTJ and wish he would be fired have no clue about what they're talking about, it's quite comical.

He did outrun the best corner in the nation, that's got to count for something. Obviously speed isn't everything but it isn't nothing either.
