I do not understand why everyone is yelling that the sky is falling. We have 3 losses against teams with a combined record of 12-1 and an average margin of 6 pts. UCLA's one loss came at the hands of 4-1 Stanford. We were one extra point and missed FG away from winning the game this weekend against a good Auburn team. We are averaging 377 yds/game on offense, 110 yds more than last year. UGA averages 346, and Ole Miss averages 273.

Pete Carroll went 6-6 in his first season at USC. Nick Saban went 6-7 and lost to Miss. State, Louisiana-Monroe. In addition, he narrowly beat Houston and Arkansas.

Just wish everyone would be supportive for a change.

Auburn missed a FG too, if we are going to play that game.....

I'm with you though....I think most of us can see things are heading in the right direction..Getting top notch recruits into Knoxville and instilling discipline into the team as a whole....Not switching QB'S series-to-series or game-to-game...I think it will work out in the long run....

Patience is NOT a virtue for many on UT boards. I think alot of folks got their hopes up and had unreal expectations.

These guys can coach, recruit, and above all brought some much needed discipline on the hill. We dont need to be fair-weathered fans. I think we are headed in the right direction . We didnt loose it all in a day and we wont get it back in a day either.jmo

Just trying to spread a little positivity around here. Our team needs it.

I can tell you this much, UGA fans are really down and thinking UT will kill them.

Great post.

Patience is a tough sell for many in our instant gratification society... especially when combined with the emotions of college football.

I think one of the reasons people are so negative is because Auburn was just as bad as we were last year and they are much better than we are right now. Hard to see a team with a lesser coach (in our Vol opinion) be undefeated while we are suffering at 2-3 with no good wins. An SEC win would go far.

Tommy Tubervilles recruiting > Phillips Fulmers recruiting. We are starting walk-ons on on our O-line and special teams, thats not good.

Nice post. I heard "Lets go Crompton" chants in the 4th. Maybe he heard because he really didnt do badly in the 4th quarter. Perhaps being positive and optimistic will not only help us be more patient, but might actually improve the team's psyche and performance.

I agree. This team has some big-time strengths and only one-achilles heel.

The defense is rock solid and plays surprisingly well even when gassed. The running backs are very capable, but since UT has no passing game, only Hardesty is having much success powering against teams stacking up to stop the run.
Bryce Brown will be much more effective when UT can create some space inside with a passing threat. Brown explodes like a jackrabbit after a few steps, but needs some holes to get started. He's not big enough to slam through yet.

Oku is building a reputation as smart versatile player. He could fill in at receiver if needed.

Where the hell Tauren Poole? Why is he not being played? He's a very good low-profile back with great vision - and an honor student (smart)

I'm seeing our wide receivers getting separation and open deep, but Crompton never seems to notice as he locks on to one reciever at a time. He throws the ball away (or forces it short) while other receivers are open.

I don't understand why NuKeese Richardson is not being deployed at Wide Receiver, reverses or other offensive schemes. He looks Mike Vick quick.

The secondary looks outstanding with Berry, Janzen Jackson and Rogan.

Special teams have improved, not spotting 1 or more touchdowns per game

Thank you for your post. It is painful to come to this site right now because of all the negativity. I too believe that we're headed in the right direction and the team and coaching staff need support, not complaints. The future looks bright but the present may indeed bring some more pain.

Patience is a tough sell for many in our instant gratification society... especially when combined with the emotions of college football.

this bears repeating.

and to amplify...

i have a good friend who is an LSU fan. in the last 7 seasons, he has enjoyed 3 SECC and 2 NC. this year they are 5-0 and ranked in the top 5 in the polls, as well as finishing in the top 10 in recruiting polls for every year since 01 or so.

but last year LSU was 8-5. he thinks that there is a serious coaching problem. he thinks that it is time for CLM to go, because there is inadequate player development. he says that many of his LSU brethren agree with him.

the statements from fans on this board pale in comparison.
