Anybody that does not think what Freeze has done in his first year taking over a 2-10 team is impressive is absolutely clueless.
Posted via VolNation Mobile

100% correct and you know what he didn't just sit back like CBJ and say oh well we suck. Let's go recruit what we can get. Freeze got out there and is recruiting the top players in the country. And landing alot of them.

When did CBJ "...sit back like CBJ and say oh well we suck ...". I must have missed something? I heard him say to the players we are CHAMPIONS and they will think, walk, act as such. We also have 30 days until NSD, hum. Please get your facts straight!!! Give the man a chance!

He kind of lost me after the best staff in America comment. You don't make that statement and then hire Cincinnati staff. What has he shown you in recruiting that makes you so positive?

Urban brought whole staff to Florida. I'm sure Florida fans didnt like it either. Calm down and relax.

Ok you know Utah was undefeated and they were recruiting 4* to UTAH! CBJ won the big east several times I've been told. And he was still unable to have a single 4* recruited before he grabed the Tennessee job before people with football IQ could stop Hart?

We can judge his recruiting class AFTER NSD. Like a lot of people properly note IMO, CBJ will eventually prove himself on the field. When people post statements inferring he is not out actively recruiting and saying CBJ thinks the team "sucks," respectively, you are wrong. With regards to his staff, I agree the best staff in the country statement is certainly debatable. Again, the majority of this staff won four CHAMPIONSHIPS in six years, Big East or not. Big names, even with a good resume, does not mean they will succeed at a Tennessee, a staff must have good chemistry.. Again, sir just give the guy a chance!!! GBO. And VFL.

So who did Freeze hire when he took the job? Part of his staff at Arkansas State. These kinds of posts are just silly.

Don't judge this class until after signing day. It has the potential to be very good. It also has the potential to be less than average. Wait till after signing day to hammer him. You may very we'll have a legitimate reason.

He didn't claim that he would have the world's best coaches either. Reading comprehension is over rated I know.

I think I know how to read and this **** is stupid. A guy who has been on the job for 30 days. People need to get a life.

Maybe reading comprehension is overrated for you. CBJ said "I will assemble the best coaching staff in the country." The meaning and inference is the best coaching staff for TENNESSEE, comprehend? Quit bashing CBJ with false statements and give the guy a chance. He may succeed or fail but nobody knows at this point.

Yeah, that is what I was wondering. There is time before signing day.

One reason I worry- I watched the All American Army Game yesterday, and it was disheartening at the lack of Vol commits. They continued to highlight the Vandy QB commit (that did not have the best day). It was disheartening to see that not one Vols hat even sat on the tables of these guys committing. Coupled with the lack recognition by the announcers who were talking about players on the field and never mentioning the Vols. I use to watch that game and see at least 1 player committing at the game and a few playing that had already committed- not yesterday!

Yea I miss those yrs when we were getting verbals at that game and had already had guys committed. But I believe next year could be the turning point and we start getting those guys again. I mean hell Pitt and Olemiss have some. With a good yr and shown improvement next yrs recruiting class could be great, i think kids will really like playing for this staff.

I am actually encouraged that none of the blue chip players considering Tennessee announced a commitment during one of the all American games this weekend. No doubt, when Jones and staff sprang into action with only a week before the holiday dead period, they gave Green, North, and probably Bell every reason they could give them to wait. Add those guys and this is a competitive class regardless of the ranking.

They did a much better job than UT in 2012.

I never said anything about them tearing it up, however they are tearing it up on the recruiting trail.

Get your head in the game!!! :eek:lol:
so did about 60 other teams.. Your point is?? You must be one of those Dooley lovers that left and created a new account .

I see a lot of people complaining about all the 3* commits and I wanted to share my take. This may have already been said, but I was much too lazy to go through the 6 pages of posts in this thread.

To get the 4 and 5 star recruits takes more than a month to build the relationship. It takes the better part of the year, generally. Now he may be able to steal a few here and there like Dooley did, but I think his plan is to not lose this class. It's well documented that one bad recruiting class can decimate your program. I think his goal is to go after guys he knows he can get right now. Those borderline 3* guys that had some decent offers, but nothing on the level of Tennessee.

I think his goal is the 2014 class while going after 3*'s and hoping to steal a couple 4 or 5's this year.

Butch has already done more in the last month than the previous staff did in 3 years. Don't worry about recruiting, this class will be good - next year's will be elite.

I am not saying your wrong. And it has taken me a bit to get over the hire( my wife, who has a great talent for seeing talent, says it seems to be a solid hire) but it does kill me to read all these type post. They are the same post that I seen for dooley. The "have faith in Butch" post. He has done nothing yet recruiting or winning wise at Tn yet you guys have all the faith in him. U truly don't understand this mentality. Furthermore he is still not a Tn guy, so I will wait and see. For the record after the hire I said I was done with Tn , unfortunately, I can't kick the orange out of my blood. GBO!! and hope you guys and my wife are right about CBJ

I do understand the "have faith in" comment. However, after 3 bad years with dooley and all the negativity the past 3 years, I'm in the "have faith camp". Time to be positive until we see different on the field

Another excellent post! For the life of me, I can't understand how so called Vol fans can get on here and post such negative words about a WINNING coach who at least, by his words so far, is doing all he can to bring Tennessee back to the top.

Most of these people are either other team fans in disguise, pissed off that Gruden didn't want the job, or know absolutely nothing about what it takes to win. IMO I am glad Gruden wasn't hired ... He was fired because he was a loser! Agreed, he is a good talking head on Monday Night Football but that is not the qualities needed to be a good coach. Don't give me that crap about "He won a Super Bowl," he inherited a Super Bowl team. Gruden would have been Kiffin II! CBJ has proven he can consistently win as a head coach. The only question now is can he win here? I don't care if he wins with 2, 3, 4, or 5 star players. CBJ just get the players you want and WIN! GBO!!!!!!!

Ok, so I am fully aware that any program rebuilding, in terms of coaching changes, will have issues in recruiting that first take over year; but the level of decommits and inability to bring in 4 to 5 stars seems somewhat alarming with the talent leaving us this year. (We are losing a good QB and a couple of great WR)

Should we be worried just yet?
Or should we just be patient and wait till signing day?
Does UT's "Rivals" and "ESPN Recruiting" rank (under the top 25) scare you?

In the end, where will we be- in terms of recruiting rank?

I guess seeing these players leave, I am worried that we do not have the experience needed to do well next year.

(I am also fully aware that some 2013 recruited players, by Dooley, to fit Dooley's system did not fit Butch's system, so Butch may have told the players that looking elsewhere might be better for their overall football development- which will trigger automatic decommits, but this amount of decommits and the inability to replace leaving stars with new equally starred personal seems like a problem...) :salute:

You could have, and should have, stopped at the semicolon.

Urbans last class at Utah was thirty spots behind CBJ last class at Cincy. A little research will keep you from looking like an idiot.

By far, with most players other than Devondre and Bradley, the other guys were 3 stars that were most likely asked to look around. And as far as the 4 and 5 stars, like you said it is tough the first year, but also we have some guys that aren't gonna announce until closer to NSD, so have a little hope and see how it plays out.
