Ok, so I am fully aware that any program rebuilding, in terms of coaching changes, will have issues in recruiting that first take over year; but the level of decommits and inability to bring in 4 to 5 stars seems somewhat alarming with the talent leaving us this year. (We are losing a good QB and a couple of great WR)

Should we be worried just yet?
Or should we just be patient and wait till signing day?
Does UT's "Rivals" and "ESPN Recruiting" rank (under the top 25) scare you?

In the end, where will we be- in terms of recruiting rank?

I guess seeing these players leave, I am worried that we do not have the experience needed to do well next year.

(I am also fully aware that some 2013 recruited players, by Dooley, to fit Dooley's system did not fit Butch's system, so Butch may have told the players that looking elsewhere might be better for their overall football development- which will trigger automatic decommits, but this amount of decommits and the inability to replace leaving stars with new equally starred personal seems like a problem...) :salute:

Butch has already done more in the last month than the previous staff did in 3 years. Don't worry about recruiting, this class will be good - next year's will be elite.

I thought we were actually going to make it a few days without one of these threads.

I think we'll be top 25 in recruiting.

A better product on the field.next year can make the 2014 class really really awesome.

Have to be realistic about the level this program has been in for a few years. The attrition and the lack of player development.

Every person on staff has talked about cbj's plan, vision and execution. I'm excited to.see the program.grow.

I mean, I'm with ya. But, how so? Dools landed some good recruits. Who jumps out at you in this one?

Dools signed Justin Hunter, CP, AJ Johnson, Maggitt, and others that are great to elite level.

Dools couldn't coach but he wasn't a BAD recruiter. He was actually average to better in recruiting honestly.

Wouldnt worry, got plenty of time until signing day and are in on plenty of good players. We will have a top 20 class, and based off the bridges Dooley burned that would be a solid first cpl months. We will be fine and next yrs class has potential to be great.

Yeah, I do believe next year will be great. Butch has come one to kill the naysayers that question his recruiting. Just based on his enthusiasm. I guess, I am worried that we got him to late in the process to make a huge diff in this years recruiting, and if we did, how that will impact us through the next three years.

Does one bad class kill the chance of winning long term?

Almost everyone you mentioned, didn't announce until the last week of recruiting or on NSD.

Relax.

First - we have to pay attention to recrutiing. There are several players that we are after that can send this class in to a top 15 finish.

2nd - you have to know your roster. We have good talent already on the roster that im confident that Butch Jones and company will mold.

Lastly - Be patient until after national signing day is over. If you dont like what you see then have a cow. But, know that even if we dont get all the great players you want; we have good players on our current roster that can give UT A GREAT showing in 2013.

We as fans have to have more confidence in our program, players and coaches. Thats the foundation of it all.

Yeah, that is what I was wondering. There is time before signing day.

One reason I worry- I watched the All American Army Game yesterday, and it was disheartening at the lack of Vol commits. They continued to highlight the Vandy QB commit (that did not have the best day). It was disheartening to see that not one Vols hat even sat on the tables of these guys committing. Coupled with the lack recognition by the announcers who were talking about players on the field and never mentioning the Vols. I use to watch that game and see at least 1 player committing at the game and a few playing that had already committed- not yesterday!

Well, the post was not automatically disregarding Butch. The post was more of a question based thread that hopes to spark dialog in answering a few questions. Rather than using the term "Wtf," the hope is that people come on here and just make a basic case for not worrying.

Realistically with top tier recruits, we are going for 5.

1.Most likely to commit- North, 4*WR, Top 50 player

2.Most likely to give us the hardest look- Bell, 4* DB Top 150 player

3. Players we miss out on- Lawson 5* DE

4. Wildcards- Kamara-4* RB, Herron 4* DE

A lot of scenarios could play out for the Vols. DL has been a place we need to recruit better athletes at for years.

If Lawson comes on board, expect Carr to solidify his commitment and Herron to come on board as well. He seems to love Auburn and right now that relationship seems to be melding.

Bell is obviously giving us the benefit of the doubt and CBJ has been in his ear about playing for the Vols. Could be a NSD shocker.

Kamara by all accounts recently has been approached hard by the Vols and could give us a bigger look given the talent and roster he is facing at UGA and Alabama.

Herron is doing the same as Kamara given all the DL talent coming in to LSU this year which is ridiculous.

We all want to get Lawson, Bell, Kamara, Herron, North. That would be in a perfect world.

I think we land North, Bell, Herron.

Thanks!

I agree that the talent is currently on the roster, but I wouldn't mind seeing a star RB come in along with a big name WR.

I like N.Petermen to take over and just surprise everyone!
The lack of WR experience seems like a cause of worry.
Also, both RB's have changed their running style to fit Dooley- Butch is more east and west, speed running. It could be a great thing for us if Lane could go back to tip toe running and allow Neal to continue his North and south running. That might just work beautifully.

N.Peterman at QB
Lane at east and west style back
Neal as North and South style back

WR?
Dallas, Bowles on the outside- Bowles will be a huge star!
And Pig in the slot?

Could be a recipe for success and allow us to bring in an elite class next year.

I am more worried about the lack of experience not the lack of talent.

I agree with you he is playing catch up now just trying to get a few good players that fits his style, this time next year top 10 class, and then we will be on our way back to the top.:dance2:

Yeah, I hear you. I am just so tired of getting alerts from bleacher report about another commit decommiting or a target going to Alabama, Florida, OSU etc. I just want, badly, to get a text saying "Green picks Vols over Mich" Or "North picks Vols"

If we can land those two, I would be extremely happy.

Actually, I was a huge Derrick Henry fan, but Derrick Green would be equally amazing to land.
