A little more info on Baggett being let go/retired

Still doesn't mean he was let go at all. If he didn't like the recruiting aspect of coaching college ball, maybe he really did decide to retire.

Why is he getting paid then? You don't normally pay someone who quits on their own.

I do not disagree with this. From what I have seen across college FB, the associate HC title seems to be given to the assistant considered most valuable to the program at that particular time. Would you agree or disagree with this?

maybe but if it works like my company then a significant salary/raise can't happen without a change in title. I think my current position has 5 levels to move to so they can give raises. There are also some people that just enjoy ordering new business cards

Wow all of this fuss over a position coach???? Get real people good programs have coaches move on all the time.

It's more magnified when your team is coming off of 2 losing seasons, one conference win, loss to a team you have beaten the last 26 yrs and Fan confidence is at an all time low.:glare:

ZR was a liability most of the year. Even a broken clock is right twice a day, so sure he had some moments, but man was he a disappointment.

Most accurate description of ZR I've seen to date... Well done..

Some receivers want to catch the ball so bad, they're willing to do anything to do so.. Some receivers have it, and some don't.. Some have all the athletic ability in the world, run good routes, and can get open..but just aren't treating every play like its the last, and just don't want it as bad, even when they think they do..

I had lunch with a member of the program today and he said it was a retirement and not a firing per say....he has an elderly father that he is caring for that had to be put in a long term care facility and didn't want to be out on the road recruiting and soending so much time working and etc. On top of that he has an NFL pension and has made plenty of money over his career and he's 59 years old.....and doesn't need the headache of dealing with a primdonna 19 year old that thinks he's a god

I have many friends on the team, as a former athlete at the University. Baggett quit on his own terms. He was fed up with Dooley and not being able to do his own thing on the recruiting trail or coach the way he wanted. There are many players that Baggett wanted to go after and Dooley would turn him down. That's whwe got in on some of these other recruits late. They we're not Baggetts first choice. It also goes with the previous post Carl said he doesn't have to deal with the BS. He doesn't need the money.

Excellent post. :good!:

Funny how people around here want to diminish, downplay, and minimize Baggett now that he's resigned. Examples include:he's too old, average recruiter, didnt make Moss or Chris Carter, hasnt coached anyone good recently before coming here. That's a hall of fame coach. Is it necessary to say stuff like that? Show respect and dont be bitter.

Per SpringBokVol, on a thread that I don't even want to attempt to find at this point, the "retirement" was by mutual decision.

I read this as CBB being told that he needed to do this, that, and the other, and he didn't much want to, and so they agreed to go their separate ways.

Anyone who has been employed for a couple of decades or so in the real world will realize that this sort of thing happens, through no particular fault by either side, and IMO it was a pretty classy way of handling it. Certainly better than being kicked to the curb, as happens so often these days.

And FWIW (not much), I count SpringBokVol as one of the knowledgeable insiders around here, and I'm way more inclined to believe what he wrote about all this.

Truth is Bagget got tired of being disrespected by Da'rick and Dooley not backing him up.The truth has been out for last few days, but some will still refuse to believe it.

The truth is that you are a dumb ass that choses to buy into rumors that have not been substantiated by anybody that would truly know. This is all because said rumors help substantiate your agenda.

Maybe so, maybe not.

The fact is, you don't have any clue whatsoever (and neither do the rest of us) as to whether there is anything to this rumor.

Welcome to the 21st century: people make money by posting inflammatory and not necessarily accurate crap. Folks who don't understand the concept of "critical thinking" believe anything that they see on their computer screens, and they swallow it immediately and do their best to pass it on.

Some of us refuse to believe anything at all, whether pro-Dooley or anti-, until we have some sort of authoritative source who is willing to go on the record with whatever news they have.

(And cynical as I am, I don't necessarily believe it then, but at least they're a primary source and on the record.)
