I’m really excited about the season coming and just seeing what we can do offensively. However, I’m a little concerned about our offensive line. Not talent-wise, but the general fit with the new offensive scheme. JH’s offense likes to pull a lot of guards and tackles in multiple formations all while running a fast pace offense. We have some talent up there with not a lot of depth so I’m really interested in seeing how these big boys handle it. Anybody else’s thoughts?

Several of the guys have discussed them dropping weight to be able to handle it

I can see why people would worry about that. But remember this offense is designed to wear down the defense quickly. OL has the advantage every snap from knowing the snap count.

This the DL will be MORE tired than the OL even though they're playing same snaps.

Kerbyson who has been allowed to see practices says that Spraggins and Carvin are the two best OL's on the team.

Who told you they don't have depth? Ellarbee claimed the other day that he could go 8 or 10 deep.

Luckily, I believe our new coach should have some understanding of this. Baylor was big. He saw Baylor. I would like to think he will build a "Bayloresque" type team. Just how I see it.

Practices ive seen, granted only on video, have been much faster pace that under Peanuthead. Also, offensive players dont have to react or fight as much against pressure as defensive guys. Its not like they will be pulling every play.

Then tell us about the depth because I see 6 quality guys.

Guess you should take that up with Ellarbee because that is what he said. I suppose he just really doesn't know what he's talking about... but he would seem to be a guy with a lot of information on the situation.

Physically.... all 15 including the Fr Parker has the size and athleticism to play.

Beyond Dayne Davis at 6, which one are you confident in, in SEC play. Just to get it on record ;)

Last thing you should worry about.

Why should I put it on record when Ellarbee already has? His interview is still on youtube if you want to know what he said specifically about players.

You will know after the PITT game if our o line will at least be serviceable. If we cannot protect our QB or open up running lanes against their D line, then that will be telling IMO.

My question about the O-Line is how quickly are they able to discard the "coaching" they've received the past 4 seasons.....

Since the days of Fulmer, I begin every season concerned about our offensive line. I remain concerned until they prove to me I shouldn’t be. I expect to be disappointed by their play until their play removes that expectation.
