A little bit from a Bama message board

Tee Martin was getting money wired in 1999. Dickey made it go away because it was a different time back then.

Pruitt has lawyered up and intends to fight this. If his defense is "I just did what every other school is doing," this could blow up into something big. He has intimate knowledge of how recruiting works at certain schools.

Yep I expect he'll get a call from his buddies at Alabama telling him to drop it and they'll find him some work. There is no way they want him under oath.

You had me until Brian Maurer showed up. While I like him and hope he succeeds, he didn't have the HS pedigree to warrant a bag man.

Edit: Not that I would know anything about that.
AV stated something about two players making restitution and being allowed to play the last game. He stated it as “reimbursement for meals” or something similar.

The X's and O's aspect of coaching ball ain't rocket science.

For a layman like myself I wouldn't have a clue. But it turned out to be true he was only good using Saban, Kirby and Jimbo's talent and never had the personality nor smarts to build something from nothing.

The only difference between Alabama's cheating and everyone else's cheating is that at Alabama everyone keeps their mouths shut and keeps the business behind closed doors. The Means scandal taught them a lesson they took to heart. The staff, the teachers, the fans, the hangers on, the boosters - they are annoyingly dedicated to the program and would do anything to see it succeed. They know how to make big problems small, and small problems go away. I hate them for it. I hate them so very much for it.

I dont have a hard time believing any of that. My friend told me the father of Henry To'oTo'o was given $75K to steer him to the vols. Quavaris Crouch, Brian Maurer and Eric Gray were three others who were named to me. All were supposed to sit the A&M game, but Crouch and To'oTo'o were surprisingly allowed to play. Also, Darnell Wadhington was paid $80K with the understanding he'd sign with the vols, only to take the money and sign with Georgia. Besides the Mims rumor involving tennessee and Georgia, I'm wondering if this is not where some of the smoke started as well.

this is nothing extraordinary this happens at every major P5 school and other mid majors too

Maybe to start his tenure, but honestly who in their right mind wouldn't want to play for Alabama. I know it would be hard to turn down the bag man, but if it was either Alabama who turns out 10 draft picks a year or Tennessee who as of late can't get anyone drafted, a higher chance to get drafted and developed is worth way more money. Saban doesn't need to cheat when you already hold the cards you need. Catching the leader is more expensive

Everybody does this winning doesn’t get players by itself. Money rules recruiting 100%. I know first hand LOL

If there is a will there is a way. I too have seen it first hand. Apparently UT was not very creative. It isn't hard to hide it. It's just hard to keep people quiet. When I was in college we called them NCAA suggestions, not NCAA rules.

There’s no such a thing as being creative the same thing they did was done at every school in the SEC and other P5. Same method and kind of bag. This loud mouth woman knows nothing about big time athletics nor winning sports. When you tell on yourself like dumb UT it looks bad when written down but in reality it is the norm everywhere. UT is a bunch of losing SOBs who hv their heads in the sand. Fuller knew what was going on and was with it and wanted to be the savior which is why he’s retiring. Again this stuff coming out is not earth shattering at all.

I agree. I think we just got caught at the wrong time.

Again we were not caught we told on ourselves due to 2 groups of ppl who were upset at UT and neither are with us any longer a player and a coach. So the dumb powers that be panicked and told on themselves

Do you think Bama pays players? Most 5* want to play there anyway. Why pay them? We, and others, have to pay 3 & 4*s and hope for a 5* Don't know this for sure and you know NCAA wouldn't touch their cash cow anyway.

So if I'm reading the room correctly JG is a snitch? Ironic being he's from New Jersey.

Bama fans would know exactly how its done... their program has been doing it for years. Pruit learned it there, must have not learned the finer points of not getting caught.

They simply don't get caught in Bama. They have NOBODY looking. And if you do ask a question, you are quickly put in your place. The state of Alabama is ALL in on their football program. From the Governor down.

Feels like we have been on the death penalty for over a decade, maybe the NCAA will say we have already served the time and not place any more penalties....seems we already do it to ourselves

Considering both Pruitt and Smart are Saban disciples, wouldn’t one infer that they learned such behavior from their mentor?
They are just smart enough to have layers upon layers of unconnected hands and mechanisms in place to deliver their happy meals.

Why couldn't I have accidentally stumbled over one of the bags stuffed with cash at one these 'literal money drops.'

Unless your luck is better than mine, you would probably find a bag with JG’s initials with a soggy Big Mac and fries inside.

Stop blaming Bama for our short comings! It’s kinda simple for a high school senior being recruited by Bama and the Vols. Win a national championship play in the NFL or sign with a program that’s been the laughing stock of the SEC for 20 years. Pretty simple, don’t you think?

I know its just random posters on message boards, but I just googled "Darnell Washington" and "recruiting violations" and it appears that the Bama board is not the only other board implying improprieties regarding the recruitment of Darnell Washington. A poster on a Virginia Football message board of all places posted yesterday that this "is all about current UGA TE Darnell Washington". TheSabre.com
