Before I get to the point here I believe it should be known that to date I've been an avid supporter CBJ and co. since arrival. I've defended him against certain criticisms that I've perceived as premature and/or flat out unwarranted. But, I do believe we will have reached a certain point come Saturday. Here's my theory:

I believe for the first time since in his tenure we have reached a definitive line in the sand and the results from the scoreboard from the UF game this Saturday is the only stay that matters. By definitive I mean there's no grey area - it's black and white.

A Loss - no matter the margin of defeat - means I'm ready to move on. CBJ will have nobody to blame for criticisms. Most if not all will be warranted. Everybody knows the reasons we SHOULD win this game...4 years in, has his own players, game is at Neyland, LDR out. No reason to lose this game.

However, I believe the flip side is as equally well defined....

A Win - no matter the margin even if it's a single point - means to me that criticism should stop at least temporarily. We shouldn't have people on here posting about the details that still upset them (Before the sarcastic comments of "Thanks Dad" and such start I'm not telling you what to do; it's just an opinion). My reasoning is simple: we'll be 4-0, well-positioned in the East, the streak snapped, and Florida on our rear view. Crying at that point will seem very perplexing to many including our players who won't deserve it.

We'll see. Just my two cents. I am really interested to hear what you have to say...especially curious to see if a 1 point win and 4-0 is enough to appease most.

I'll hang up and listen. GBO!!

I get the message, however

come on Volnation -- vow today, to not go all "d4h" on this Team 120, regardless of execution or coaching.

What I want, is a hard-fought game, and I believe we'll see that (IF we should lose a hard-fought game, then I MUST be satisfied, regardless of the streak).

We are beginning only the 2nd qtr of a 4 qtr season, and the winds can change all around the SEC.

I'm pretty sure I will shed some tears if we beat Florida...if there was a way you could win by half a point I wouldn't care. As long as we win.

I agree it is time to shine..so tired of losing to florida every year..and losing all the big games that we should have won..it is time to PUT UP OR SHUT UP...this game starts 1 of the hardest 4 games stretches in football..we need to win and have momentum going forward..a loss and I see a possible 4 game losing streak coming..I am all in for the vols have been all my life...I need a Saturday that we beat florida.....GBO

Rex D4H is a clown bandwagon fan. He is the only "fan" on this site that is not a fan of either the Vols or a rival.

No true fans are going anywhere after Florida win/lose it doesn't matter. The passion our fans have can't be turned off.

So after the win there will be areas that still need improvement and will be discussed.

It's beat Florida week.

Next week will be beat Georgia week.

Go Vols!

This is what so many Vol posters do NOT get. Move on to WHO??? In our eyes UT is a Top 10 job, unfortunately prior history of attempting to hire new HC's reveals that is not the case. We had so many misfires in the 2 previous HC searches it was down right embarrassing. I would not want to go through that again. Stick with Butch.

Just like swc1988 I'd take a half point win if it was possible. I don't care how ugly or perfectly executed the game is. I JUST WANT A WIN!!!!

To move on means to DVR the games, check the score...delete if unfavorable, watch if favorable. It has been a standard coping mechanism for the past 10 years after FLA ruined our season.

Oh and to stick with a coach who can't get it done (that is yet to be determined) because you are afraid you can't get a better coach, is just stupid.

It has been a difficult ride these past 15 years.

From the end of Fulmer, through the Kiffin adventure, onto the Dooley Fiasco, and even now 4 years into the Butch Jones (Sgt Carter) circus, we still don't know if we can be champions.

We are definitely nationally relevant (Gameday twice in the first quarter of the season) but not for being a true contender.

I am in the "we finally end the streak" camp. I am called a nega vol by many on here and a lot of my posts are negative, but I do love the Vols and hate to see our team down year after year.

If Butch is not the answer, I don't know who is, but you can't just keep doing the same thing and hope for a different outcome. If we win this Saturday, a lot of the negative will disappear. But if we lose and the streak is extended, it is going to get ugly fast.

I'll clarify:

Nobody!s going all D4H. Would never quit...never have in the last 4 decades. By moving on I simply meant that I don't believe I could muster up any more defenses for this regime. The season would not be lost and still time to make it a successful one.

As a supporter, the CBJ staff (not the team) would have to win me back. I will officially be on that line of basically indifference toward the staffs future. Not to say I would stay there but a loss would probably put me there further first time in 4 years.

Look, I've defended these guys at most every turn in this board. It's just an honest assessment of where I stand today.

Its a game played by kids so anything can happen. I can take another loss as long as we use all of our weapons and ammunition. I don't want to hear the execution excuse, you can't execute when you are double teamed. Coaches need to execute as well. We do all of that and lose I am OK with it.:machgun::machgun::machgun:

I get what you're trying to say here, but I disagree. We're playing at home against a team with slightly less talent and much less experience. Furthermore, their starting QB is out. We've had "hard fought losses" to UF both the past two years, so another one this year would mean we aren't making progress in overtaking them for the East. And if not now, when? Much of our "young" team is playing their final year in the orange and white. If Butch can't win with an experienced team at home, what makes anyone think they can beat an improved UF team with a younger UT team on the road next year?

They aren't better than us. And frankly, this streak shoulda been over. Twice. It's time to win.
