Dear Jeremy,
Its 4.05am here and I cant sleep again. For 11 years I seem to suffer the same frustration, disappointment and sometimes anger following the Vols, please when will it change to happiness and smiles
I still want to give you time to turn this around but I need you to contribute as well. Start by coming out and admitting you have messed up this year its ok to do this after all you are a rookie head coach and rookies can come good if they learn. Here are some of the mistakes:
1) You totally disregarded Georgia State. Treated them as a srimmage
2) You told us that Gaurantano was sharp this offseason and now ready for the next step (you have more chance of Hillary finding those e-mails than Jarrett hitting an open receiver)
3) Burrell was the best cornerback on the team (he might be in the future but no way now)
4) At half time in last years Alabama game you promised everyone that we would never suffer that again (I fear this year will be worse)
5) People say you are a secondry guru (Taylor has regressed, Warrior looks more lost that Robinson Crusoe)
6) Please please no more laterals to Chandler
7) Coach the team, yes play with aggression but also with discipline (Im sick of 11 years of stopping a 3rd down only to hear Unsportmanlike Contact Defence No ??? 15 yards, 1st down)
I can see you have not lost the team (although that's before the hidings against Georgia and Alabama) so Im not giving up on you yet but somewhere you need to stop the rot, stop the decline, anchor the ship before righting it. This season is gone, no bowl game the only thing in play is the worst season on record staring at us, so change it NOW:
1) If you play Gaurantano again then everybody now knows he not a game manager but he can throw it downfield, then dam well do it, we have Calloway, Palmer and Jennings who can go and get it( Auburn last year) if its intercepted then its no different to a 40 yard punt, stuff Gaurantanos personal stats
2) Blitz and Blitz again and play man to man, yes it risky but im sick of having the opponent 3rd and 12 and they complete to an open receiver down the middle
3) The only way to salvage anything this season and the recruiting class is to go young (To'o To'o, Crouch, Emerson, Gray, Taylor, Thompson, McCullough, Keyton) yes they will mess up sometimes but just a few good days will give me hope for 2020 (look at Nebraska last year).
4) Lets the players play with freedom, stop trying micro manage the game, there is talent here compared to most teams
5) Hope hope and hope again Harrison Bailey stays firm and is the real deal.
