A Historical Perspective of TN Championship Football

Yes, we've improved. I'm still not sure that CBJ's coaching philosophy makes sense in the SEC though, and I know his endless cliches and inspirational poster sentences are completely unsatisfying to this fanbase.

Does he know that?

Does he care?

And finally, there's nothing wrong with us insisting on parity with Saban and Meyer.

Like most on here, ive discovered the main problem is with the pr stuff. Yeah some of the losses suck but CBJ has proven he can be competitive with anyone.

And like ive asked everyone else wanting CBJ fired, who are we going to hire that is gauranteed to be better?

Fulmers teams were MUCH better.

We missed winning the east more because of ONE team that we could not beat.

What was Fulmer's record during that stint?

Aint no way Butch is winning the east next year with a worse team than this year and first year head coaches becoming established.

How are you so certain that every other team will get better and Tennessee will get worse?

It took Fulmer 5 years to win the SEC East
TN won the SEC East an average of once every 3.3 years

Stats can be twisted however you want to twist them. Yeah, it took Fulmer 5 years to win the East. However, one important thing you forgot to mention about that is that Florida was on a tear during that stretch and was winning not only the East but conference titles every year. And then in 95 they played for the National Title and came up short and in 96 they won the National Title.

1993 Florida wins the SEC East (and conference championship) with an 11-2 record.

1994 Florida wins the SEC East (and conference championship) with a 10-2-1 record

1995 Florida wins the SEC East (and conference championship) with a 12-1 record, lost to Nebraska in the NC game

1996 Florida wins the SEC East (and conference championship) with a 12-1 record, and WINS the National Championship

Florida in the early to mid 90s was much like Alabama is today. Not quite on that level but they were winning the East as well as the conference title almost yearly.

Im so sick of people not realizing where we were four years ago and where we are now.

We remember and refuse to go back to that. "At least we ain't Dooley" is such loser mentality many refuse to except. How about....lets strive to de-throne Bammer. We are looking to de throne folks and you still like....look at dooley yrs lol we refuse going back....sorry :)

Recruiting for starters. Plus Florida has already proven it can do more with less and because they are Florida they will be getting better. That one team is really all that matters, but even still we nearly lost to Georgia with a first year head coach and freshman QB. They will probably beat us next year because we will have less talent and a bumbling fool for a head coach.

Last year we were in position to dethrone Alabama and came up just short. CBJ has proven he can field a team that can compete with anyone. Yes mistake have been made and we lost a game we shouldnt. It's disappointing. What it doesnt mean is that this senior class is a failure or that we need to get a new coach.

We beat Florida by 10 and they are every bit as talented as Tennessee is. Yes they have a good coach. CBJ has been competative with him in both match ups. Let's not forget if a db makes a single tackle on 4/14 CBJ is 2-0 against him.
UGA has tons of talent. CMR was a good coach that was fired under questionable circumstances. Its not that team was left in shambles. Lets also not forget, if our 5 star Running back completes a play, the hail mary at the end is not needed.
And saying they "will probably beat us next year" means jack. We are just as likely to beat them, you have absolutely no basis to make that statement, other than to sound like you know what you are talking about and throw out anything negative against CBJ that you can.

As far as your recruiting reference:
2014 UT 5 / UGA 7
2015 UT 5 / UGA 6
2016 UT 15 / UGA 11 and even though this class is likely to provide little impact on the game, if UT signs a 5 star lineman, they are right there with them. UGA also loses several of their playmakers and defenders. They also lost to Vandy. Acting like they are going to be world beaters is dumb.

Well since the 1990s we have played both Florida and Alabama every year. And a loss to any SEC school regardless of division is weighted equally unless if a tiebreaker.

So I truly fail to see the significance of your post. We play the best to become the best. That's Tennessee football.

Florida has a coach who promotes individualism over team. This is unsustainable and will erode Florida in the long run during times of adversity (note they quit during the 4th Q against Tennessee) and will lead to attrition due to off the field issues.

before talking championships of any kind, we need to turn around this record.

SEC wins and losses since end of 2007 season.

26 wins 45 losses.. we need two and a half undefeated seasons to get back to .500

Really makes me wonder how different it would have been if we would have been more patient with Coach Fulmer.
