A good season in 07

On defense, alot of the talent has materialized. On offense, we have had to deal with a Sanders/Fulmer offense for so long that it has been a deal of bad coaching. Under Cutcliffe, alot of the talent will show through.

We have plenty of talent on defensive line, correct me if I am wrong: both tackles were Parade All Americans, quality ends, plus, they are not underclassmen anymore. If they did not step up, (which I do not believe), we would fall miserably. After watching OW game, I figure out our secondary is OK, as long as DL play strong, we should be fine. I am just worrying about the O.

Yeah, the DL has plenty of highly recruited players as will the secondary. The OL has plenty of talent, it just has to gel.

Both returning DT's wre back-ups last season to McBride and McGothlin. There isn't much depth after them.

UT usually plays at least 4 players at DT during a game. These 2 guys are not going to be as effective if they have to play the whole game.

UT was terrible last year on the DL. They need to get a lot better. Playing the same guys as last year doesn't always translate to a big improvement. They have a lot of work to do to get better.

I think Bolden has been a disappointment so far considering how highly recruited he was. Mapu played well as a freshmen but he had a lot of work to do to get in condition for football last year.

I think Chavis is looking at going to a 3-4 next season because of the DT depth.

There going as far as the defense takes them. The secondary is a huge weakness, as we saw against Penn State. But we have guys ready to play that role, and the questions will bem, can they do it effectively. How effective will Marsaolous Johnson and Anthony Gaines be? Will Eric Berry play an immediate role and have an immediate impact? Jarrod Parish? I think a rejuvenated secondary is the key for the 2007 Vols.

Dan Williams will be a monster at DT this year.

One of them got to be better than Mcgothlin.

He is a joke. Other than his huge tattoo on his right arm, he has nothing to show off. I agree with others, letting this kind of player play as our starter just shows how thin our DL is. I'd really want to see we can bring in 3-4 quality DL every year. We did pretty good this year, but unfortunately, those guys won't help immediately.

i don't mind the road games, we seem to play MUCH better on the road than we do at home. It's not the road games that worry me, its the overall inexperience and lack of talent at WR. When we're relying on players that aren't even on campus yet for next season, it's bothersome. I think the OL will be fine, the running game will be back towards what we're used to at UT with the lack of WRs, and the defense should be fine. IF we can get some production at WR this could be a good team, and vice versa.

The offense they ran in the championship was much different than what was run the first 12 games.
No it wasn't. The defense against it was alot different (read slower).

Meyer's offense hasn't won him anything in the first two years... Zook's defense did. Those guys are gone. UF will have to score more than 25 offensive ppg against the SEC to be successful this year. We have not seen his offense and don't know if it can be successful against the speed and physicality of SEC defenses.

Everywhere else he's been, his offensive skill players were much faster than the LB's and Safeties they faced. They aren't in the SEC.

This does seem to be a pivotal year in the current UT football era. Florida is rebuilding, Spurrier lacks the real experience and talent he should need to compete for the SEC title, Georgia continues to be the Phil Mickelson of the SEC, and coaching changes may upset the chemistry of the West. We have a top-3 recruiting class as juniors, and it's time for them to mature and prove their worth. Fulmer: Show us the money.

As I see it, we need some real manning-up at the OL and WR position. And, we need somebody on the defense to become a scary, scary threat in the front 7. I think we'll be good in the secondary, and the D-line should be OK. I really think that Ainge will have a great second season under Cut, and I think that both Foster and Coker will feed off the competition with each other.

He also had McBride, McGlothlin, and Harrell ahead of him for part of the year. I think he will be a pretty stout 3rd DT in our rotation.

It is possible to improve over a year.

I know. I'm just saying that I heard a lot about how he would contribute last year. For whatever reason, he didn't. Thus, I'm reluctant to think that he'll be a huge factor this year.

Our offense could be pretty good.
1. Throw the ball to Cottam more.
2. Get the ball in Coker's hands more; more screen passes to him also.
3. Insert Eric Berry at QB just like Darren McFadden was used last year.
4. Hopefully Foster will be healthy and Hardesty will move to FB, but he did look good in the O&W game.

The coaches said the same thing last year. The only time I saw him on the field was against Memphis.

Well unless you've watched everyone of the spring scrimmages and the O&W game you don't know.

I have watched the majority of the scrimmages and the O&W game. He has tore it up.

Not trying to sound like a smartass, but I would not declare someone to have a breakout season unless I've seen it firsthand
