A Four Game Sample, and Recruiting

A similar "structural flaw" caught up with Pat in the early 2000s. She loved overplaying and leaping into passing lanes SO much she held on to it until Geno literally busted through the back door and started stacking up his own championships against us.
I think Geno poured over days of LVs film during the 1990s and basically designed his teams to beat Pat's style. He's said in the past that he considered Tennessee the benchmark for what he wanted to reach, and he seemed to live to beat Tennessee. And with few exceptions, he always seemed to make the right calls, although I still remember him throwing his hands in the air in the 1997 regional final, when nothing he tried worked.

The LV's style for a few years totally revolved around making opponents wither under pressure defense; they never played very good offense and rarely needed to. I still remember watching the 39-0 team she had and I remember a month into the season, telling someone they would have no trouble winning the natty unless they ran into UNC--the one team that season that I felt had the ball-handlers needed to handle the pressure and attack the LV defense. And they did eventually have to face the Tar Heels and beat them, but it wasn't easy by a long shot.
