1. The O line held up well and opened up good holes for the RB's.

2. RB's all looked good. Oku and Poole did most the work, but all for finished with over 55 yards.

3. Simms looked composed and managed to operate the offense at a high level while he was in. I see why he is starting over Bray now.

4. I do think that the younger WR's should of played more. Jones and Moore played great, but Oregon and Florida is no time to break these kids in.

5. Defense AWESOME and I can't say that enough.

Overall Great Job VOLS!!!:clapping::good!::pepper:

Simms sailed the ball quite a bit. Seemed like he thought Stocker was 9 feet tall on several passes

Most of the balls tonight thrown to Stocker he could have caught. I like Stocker but he had a sub par game tonight.

Agreed. Stocker needs to have a big game against Oregon and I think he will.

Stocker definitely could of caught a few of those....Simms did throw a lot of balls high though

Simms had a rough 2nd quarter with overthrows, but otherwise he looked pretty good and made all the right calls. The entire offense struggled in the 2nd to be honest, top to bottom.

Am I the only one who thought Simms pretty much sucked tonight for 95% of the game? Maybe it wasn't as bad as it looked, but if that was Oregon they would have picked him off probably three or four times.

Yeah that was just you. I don't think he forced anything and only made one throw in the flat that could have been intercepted off a tip. Otherwise he just missed on some of those long balls and passes in the end zone, as well as throwing it a bit hot and high to Stocker. I thought he did pretty well otherwise.

That being said, I would have liked to see them give Hunter and Rogers (Darick) a couple of shots deep just to get their feet wet for the coming weeks.

No you're not the only one. The moore TD is intercepted against a quality defense and the play were GJ got hurt shouldve an easy 6 he had his man beat by 10 yards.

I agree about the Jones catch, but even though it was underthrown slightly, I doubt that TD pass to Moore is intercepted by anyone.

Simms put a little too much zip on the intermediate routes. That's something Crompton did his whole career.

I don't think Simms played that great tonight. I mean he wasn't awful, but he's gonna have to make a few plays consistently for us. And I'm really not expecting it immediately. Like I said in an earlier post, I think our passing game is going to struggle for a while. No knock on Simms, but I mean this was UT Martin, it ain't getting any easier.

Yes you are the only one.

The walls are way too close to the endzone corner. That's very dangerous.

I agree. They need to do something about that. There can't be more than about 6 feet from the pylon to the wall.

Nick Reviez played, and played well. He was in on nearly every tackle up the middle. I heard his name called several times. He's a run stopper, not a glitzy pass rusher. I know he will work his tail off this year, and I hope he is able to get some all SEC honors to show for it. Great kid.

Going with what I saw tonight it looks like we are in for a long season. UTM was just way overmatched and we still had problems, the 1st team should have been off the field the entire second half. They just didn't look very good considering who they were playing!

First game of the year, new qb, new head coach. Not that bad considering imo.

I agree though that he put too much heat on the short stuff. He needs to work on that, especially if we want to utilize stocker.

You must have been the guy behind me....

"COME ON!! THAT WAS A TERRIBLE THROW!!!!!" (as he is throwing the ball away to prevent a sack)

"HE WAS WIDE OPEN!!!" (as he is being drilled by a linebacker, but manages to throw it high in the endzone to prevent an interception)

I think if you flip-flopped your ratio it would be correct. He looked good 95% of the game, and 5% of the time he held the ball and bit too long and had a hard time finding a target.
