A Few Random Quotes From An Oregon Board.

To Oregon fans everywhere:

Let us coexist with a shared hatred for USC. UT and UCLA fans have gotten along wonderfully these past few months, why not join us UO fans?

I actually like Oregon and don't understand the hatred between us.

this,

personally, i came here to interact with the fans of a program that i have the utmost respect for.

I'm just glad the game is in neyland. Wonder if the ducks have played in anything like our atmosphere. Also I think they will be surprised. I think this coaching staff and especially Bennie Wylie, I hope I spelled that right, has got these guys ripped and in shape in a way I've never seen before. I'm pretty excited. Go Vols!!!

I don't know if we have either. in recent years we've played in places like wisconsin, michigan, oklahoma with mixed results. Neyland will be a test for sure, we hope you are excited about the return trip to Autzen.

one thing i do know, you don't further your program unless you test yourselves against the best, this is one of the reasons i admire UT football, you aren't afraid of tough OOC H&H's.

depends on one's expectations. We recently fired a coach who had won a National Championship, a couple SEC championships, and had been in the SEC Championship game the year before.

I think that goes to show that a program can't fire its way into the NC game.

I'll get on some fans that I disagree with. But, I don't have hatred for UT at all. I'd say that on average, UT fans are better than most.

Now see...something about this pisses me off. It is like family to me. It is ok for me to give Tennessee hell and it is ok for y'all to give Alabama hell but I don't want no sum bich from Oregon ragging on Tennessee.

I will be pulling for the big orange in this one.

I just raised a tall scotch in your honor, 'scoop. Hear, hear, my friend. Well said!!! Roll Tide. See you in October.

im excited for the game. should be a good sec vs pac 10 matchup. both with new qbs.
im coming to the game, already got my tickets. so question is where are some must eat restaurants i must go to in knoxville to get some true southern food?

I don't hate Oregon, but the idea that the uniforms are a great recruiting tool is crap. The uniforms, combined with Oregon's "great run" in the last decade or so, has landed them recruiting classes that would render them irrelevant in the SEC title race.

Then the boys in Corvalis can explain why Vegas has them as only 3 point favorites in the game. Maybe Vegas too "doesn't understand" the greatness that is Oregon.

There is actually an official betting line on this game this early? Vegas doesn't even know who's going to start for the Vols, from QB on down the roster. Factoring in possible injuries, arrests, (that's always a possibility with either of these teams, I'm sad to say), and other variables, I question whether that's true on Aug. 14th. Not disputing it, my friend; just find it highly unusual, as a sportsman for many years.

I will respectfully disagree, we've gotten good feedback from recruits on the uniforms, fan's opinion is important of course but the uni's are for and about the players/potential players.

while there is always room to improve in recruiting, we have been quite happy with the last few classes. we try to recruit the best athletes who fit our system, not just the best athlete period. this is something that coach Wilcox understands from his playing days as a Duck, it's nice to see him getting his chance with a big time program like UT.

I agree with the part about this being the worst UT team in 30 years but if they're expecting an easy win against UT at Neyland, they are likely to go home disappointed.

So who are you pulling for?

Not being a Dick here, but being a lifelong Tennessee fan and Alum, I would feel dirty rooting for any other CFB team. My job moved me to Toledo and I cannot even find myself to pull for the Toledo Rockets a M.A.C. team.

You're kidding, right? As another lifelong Tennessee fan and Alum, I root for ANY and ALL S.E.C teams against non-conference foes. I'm generally rooting for Bama and the Gators all year, except when they play our beloved Vols. When they do well and we beat either one, or both, just look what that does for U.T. I'm guessing you meant rooting for a team all season. In that case, it's Vols only, 423, for sure.

True. I should have said that firing someone because they don't meet your lofty expectations is no guarantee that the hire is going to meet them either.

In other words, high expectations aren't worth very much in football.

We expect to compete for SEC and National Championships every year. Of course that doesn't always happen. But those high expectations have made Tennessee a Top 10 program over the last 100 years, they keep us in a completive attitude that is unwilling not to expect the best.

When it comes to football Tennessee does not have a laid back attitude.

Those pimped out uniforms are landing them good players, and all those 4* and maybe 5* players that a lot of y'all on here cry about. With Nike down the road more kids are looking their way.

Can someone explain how this matters at all?

As someone who checks in regularly with Oregon forums and blogs, I can assure you all that these cherry-picked quotes pretty much do not represent the overall attitude that UO fans have about the game.

there were a couple of "beware of an upset" posts. i just didnt want them to dilute the flavor of my thread. in all honesty, though, it didnt seem that anybody even agreed with those posts, anyways. i did say the quotes "pretty much" sum up the overall attitude.

Part of the "games of the year"; Golden Nugget posts them every year. The first week's spreads are also already up for all the games at @ the Hilton & elsewhere.
