Its possible that CSS takes over the defensive Line and we look at LB coach instead!

George Edwards, Kacy Rogers, Travis Jones, and Karl Dunbar are all NFL guys that currently are unemployed (Rogers and Jones job status is up in the air).

College guys such as Bo Davis, Kevin Steele, Marion Hobby, Chris Rumph and Tyrone Nix could also be possibilities.

If the hire comes from anyone on this list, it would be a step in the right direction. I lean towards guys like Jones, Steele, and Davis because they have notable presences in recruiting.

I believe that this will take a while to finish because it’s not essential to NSD...to finish filling in the Coaches vacancys...so unless something falls into place quickly dont expect it to happen soon.

Willis or Jones would be homerun hires. Willis has some baggage with his legal issue that led to his dismissal from Texas Tech, but it may be worth the risk. Jones will likely be unemployed this week after Gregg Williams joins Fisher in STL. Both have strong ties in Alabama and could replace LT's recruiting territory.
Jones was mentioned before, and that would be my pick. But didn't he too get into some legal trouble recently. Domestic violence or something like that?

Steele wants it.
People, get it out of your head, thinking Steele is going to take a step down, to a position level coach. Fact of the matter is one game may have stung, but somebody will come calling. Chavis' D (while here at UT) got torched badly in the regular season by Florida...in bowl games against Nebraska, Maryland and Clemson. You see where he is now. It might not look like a splash hire now, but his body of work will get him a DC job soon.

Doesn't strike me that Steele is hungry right now. I appreciate his Vol ties but doesn't seem like what we need. I think we take some risk on at least one up and comer like Sirmon. Whatever happened to the fired Memphis head coach? He might could fill a spot on O.

Is coach CTJ leaving now because most of those guys are secondary coaches?

He's not leaving. Because Sunseri likely coaches LB or DL, we may hire another secondary coach to focus on either safeties or cornerbacks.

You also should look into coaches who are tied to the coaches that our guys know. References and reputations go a long way in the coaching profession.

Brick Haley LSU DL Coach - LSU's tradition of outstanding defensive line play continued in 2011 under the direction of third-year coach Brick Haley. Haley, who has coached in the NFL as well as having 11 years of experience on the sidelines in a BCS conference, put a unit on the field that featured just one senior to go along with two juniors and a combined five freshmen and sophomores in its eight-man rotation.

What would be the motivation for Haley to bolt LSU for a lateral position with the Vols?

What would be the motivation for any of our coaches to leave for lateral moves?

All the "writing on the wall" and "Doesnt get along with Dools" stuff is just rumor.
