A&E decides

Which "rights and privileges" have been withheld by the minority?

The privilege to work for one. If you offend a minority group they come out like cockroaches demanding retribution. The opposite does not happen.

Yep & sin is sin. These people accept it. Homosexuals can't.

Not everyone views homoexuality as sinful. If you don't believe that it is sinful (interpretation, non-religious, etc.), can you see how people might find issue with the comments?

Different comments and different circumstances.

Right. Alec Baldwin just used a word he's not supposed to say to a heterosexual. He wasn't actually talking about a group of people. Phil was actually addressing an entire group of people when he made his statement.

I thought most reasonable people here agreed that both sides were justified in this debate?

Right. I understand both sides' positions and I see wrong on both sides. When I see wrong on both sides I tend to argue against whomever the present majority seems to be. If this message board was full of gays I would be telling them to chill TFO, too.

First of all, Phil was not “gay bashing. People with Christian beliefs are attacked with such vehemence when they express their beliefs. Where is the tolerance the left preaches constantly?

Homosexuality compares to beastiality.

It also compares to shoplifting, murder, coveting your neighbor's wife, stealing office supplies from work and premarital sex.

If calling sin what it is is bashing then so be it.

It's funny I was at a Christmas party this past weekend hosted by a gay couple. It was fun. We tried to pick who was gay & who wasn't & one "guy" came in a dress. Even though we laugh & socialize & accept what people are at the end of the night it's repulsive to a lot knowing what acts take place. It is what it is. Nobody wants their kids to be homosexual. Even though most parents would accept it there's still a part of them that will be disappointed. It will never fully change.

I guess some believe what is convenient to avoid reality.

It will when parents stop indoctrinating their kids from their youth with religious concepts.

The left believes in tolerance, unless you disagree with them then they go on relentless attacks.

Probably a few on here would call me a liberal (which I'm not) but I'm tolerant of everyone. I also love intelligent debate as well even if I disagree with it. :hi:

When Christians seem to actually believe there is a war on Christmas, it doesn't surprise me that they feel like they are relentlessly attacked.

I was not really directing that toward anyone on here. I don't really find you to be liberal, but probably left of me (most people are) :peace2:

He stated his beliefs and what they are based on, he didn't address anyone in particular or directly.

The term "war" is problematic.

I do find it odd that the left loves to mock and trash Christians but gets all nutty about anyone mocking or trashing other religions.

As someone stated earlier - the double standard is one of the bothersome things about this whole speech debate.

The sequence is:

(i) Polygamy
(ii) Pedophilia
(iii) Bestiality

(i) and (ii) can be “justified” by consensual assent(AKA: loving relationship).

(iii) will be difficult and take much longer because an animal cannot rationalize a loving relationship. But it will also become normal in the lefts eyes

LOL. Just when you think you've seen VM hit rock bottom, he digs deeper.

Screw tolerance, anyone who discriminates on others and justify's it using bronze age morality written in a book that was heavily edited for content based on word of mouth deserves no tolerance.

That's quite reasonable and a pretty understandable position. I would imagine however that many folks who profess to be against same sex "marriage" would also be against civil unions that provide the same benefits of a traditional marriage.

I think you would be surprised. To Christians, marriage has a very specific plan, design and designer.

Who discriminated?

One is acceptable only if they are of legal age, consenting, and it isn't forced. Two and three will never be legal and your continued linkage of the two continues to show your ignorance.

On the flip side - Baldwin used the word to intentionally hurt an individual, Phil was talking in generalities about consequences he would not be delivering.

I don't think Baldwin should have been canned for that - ultimately I think his ratings were so bad and he had a long history of being a bully to people (including his daughter) that MSNBC saw a way out of a losing situation.

Of the two people - Phil seems like a better person (or at least one that treats others better) than Alec.
