A&E decides

I am for gay marriage and rights but they need to quit *****ing at some point. A large part of the country will never agree with then anyway so who cares.

I agree the gay advocacy groups need to do a better job of picking their battles.

However, I definitely see the merit in responding to these comments. I don't agree with the calls to remove and ultimate suspension, but I think some response was absolutely warranted.

Paraphrasing the bible notwithstanding, comments like that from someone followed by millions can serve to perpetuate the idea that gays are lesser, highly sinful people. I know many believe that to be true, and that's fine; it is their right to feel that way. The problem is that you also have a lot of people (many young) trying to come to terms with their sexuality and comments like this can lead to anguish and self-hate. For this reason, a response is completely warranted to counter those statements.

Again, I don't believe he should have been suspended, but making a counter statement in support of the gay community is perfectly reasonable.

I just don't understand why Christians are proud to say controversial things and stand up for what they believe in and then freak the **** out as if others shouldn't ever be offended.

I believe God said it to a man to be compiled in a book thousands of years ago. It has been translated several times and I interpret it a certain way, but he definitely said this and so I'm not wrong and you aren't justified in being offended.

How many Christians are telling people not to be offended? Please point to examples. For the most part, we know people will be offended. Our Bible tells us people will be offended.

Some of of us see a double-standard. The cultural left seem intent to tell us that it is morally wrong to express our opinions about what we feel is morally wrong. Do you see the hypocrisy of expressing a moral statement that others shouldn't express moral statements?

If you can't stand the heat keep your f-ing mouth shut. I don't go around calling Christians sinners for supporting government forced morality (which I think is sinful) because it will hurt their feelings.

Feel free to share that sentiment! By all means! Most Christians would admit to being far worse sinners than just exercising our democratic rights, just like every other member of our society is encouraged to do.

However, The above appears a bit comic when compared to your above statement: Wasn't it something about whiny people needing to be shot? (Or did the mods get it already?)

Quite the open minded, democratic, non-whiney guy there. Kudos.

Because most who think the lifestyle is wrong are cowards and are scared to say anything. Every day we have the pro gay agenda shoved down our throats so its a breath of fresh air for someone to come out against it. No one is saying beat them, kill them or treat them any different, but for some reason you all can't handle it when anyone says they believe it's wrong.

I always thought (and studied) that all sin is equally bad and one isn't any worse than the other.

I think you are right. All sin is separation from God. I was saying in terms of the severity of the very act. Their is a sin known as the unforgivable sin. I think this sin is where you reject Christ and refuse to believe.

I am not a Democrat. I whine. Everybody does it. Some obviously more than others.

Phil exercised his democratic rights. So did A&E. I don't understand what there is to be so upset about on either side.

All sin is terrible. Sexual sin is in a class of its own.

1 Corinthians 6

For, as it is written, “The two will become one flesh.” 17But he who is joined to the Lord becomes one spirit with him. 18Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body. 19Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, 20for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.
Word Of God.

They respond to anything because frankly these groups have nothing better to do. Christian or not there will be people that don't agree with homosexuality. They will judgmental. As long as people are tolerant, which doesn't mean bowing down to the minority, who gives a damn. Stop getting your feelings hurt & deal with it.

My facebook feed is 50% Christians freaking out about Duck Dynasty, so I'd have to say they have nothing better to do either.

I think the issue is that a very vocal minority is dictating policy over the majority. The squeakiest wheel is getting the grease so to speak. We as a nation are too worried about people's feelings being hurt.

Does the majority have the right to squash the rights of the minority?

How much of an outcry from the gay rights groups would we have seen or would A&E took the action they did had Phil been a Muslim?

I imagine these exact words were also spoken in the early 1920's and 1960's.

My bad...

Just because it's blowing up in facebook land doesn't mean anyone is exactly "upset" per se... It's newsworthy. The system worked. Many are predicting A&E cut their own throat.

So you agree the majority has the right to withhold certain rights and privileges, even liberties to minorities?

I believe marriage is between a man & a woman. If gays wanna have a legal binding couple agreement call it something else.
