A&E decides

Well, until conservatives call and write the stations or A&E as much as liberals this will continue to happen. Let them know you won't watch, won't buy from the sponsors etc., they'll fold eventually.

I don't watch it either. Really wish I did, so I could not watch it now.

Seems like a silly sentiment to me. I don't understand why some people get so upset if one doesn't agree with another's life choices. The man was asked his opinion and gave it...not just gay people, but liars, thieves, etc.

I used to work in the alcohol business, and there were people who I went to church with who believed I was doing the Devil's work. Of course, I didn't agree with them, but it didn't mean the person hated me.

It's another example of the intolerance of people who claim to be tolerant of everyone. It's the worst kind of hypocrisy in my book.

For the record, all I've ever seen of this show was what i caught flipping channels. But I guess when you're a star in pop culture, you just need to learn to check your own opinions and moral framework at the door.

For the record, as someone who is gay, I do not think he should have been put on hiatus for this. Obviously I disagree with his views, but they are his and he is fully entitled to them. This is a precarious road to travel, as we all have varying views on myriad topics. He was asked a question and he answered, perhaps too honestly.

It always saddens and disappoints me when folks group homosexuality along with bestiality, but it is what it is. Doesn't make them bad or hateful people, just outdated and misguided views, in my opinion.

The episodes I've watched were hilarious! I love Uncle Si. Cracks me up with his sweet tea. I have a lot of respect for this family. This could be the best thing that ever happened to them.

He didn't group them together. You are trying to read to much in to it. He was speaking of all sin. References of cheating, stealing, lying, sex out of wedlock.

A lot of history with that tea glass.

I interpreted your last post as: I've never watched the show. But I wish I had been a regular viewer so I could now not watch.

Perhaps I misinterpreted. But that's why I had quoted your post.

Sorry. I meant I wasn't regular enough to show up in ratings. (Lord, I'm old enough to type the word "regular" and have a totally different thought.)

I couldn't agree with this more. There's a large chasm between not condoning another's life choice and hating those who make those choices. That can apply to sexuality, premarital relations, cohabitating...the list is endless.

Each person has their own framework of values, and one shouldn't be marginalized because theirs don't align with yours. If that were the case, my parents and I would have gone through long periods of not speaking!

I didn't, however, make the connection between bestiality and homosexuality.

I get that, but whether it was intentional or not that is how it comes across:

“Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there. Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men...”

He effectively equates them, whether he means to or not. I'm okay giving benefit of the doubt, but I cannot tell you how many times I've seen homosexuality listed right along side bestiality and pedophilia (not claiming in this specific case). One becomes a bit sensitive to it over time.

I read his comment as sin is effectively equal, one is not greater than another. Sinful sex is sinful sex.

He may have equated them in your mind. Not in mine.

They got pills for that "sensitive" part you are dealing with. :)

So the next question is:

How really important is family to the children? Will they support their father and pull back as well? Or is this just about money?

I just posted this. If his family has any minerals they will tell A&E to stick if they are about family more than $$$$$ like they show indicates

I agree. Never have watched the show. Interested to see if they got the balls to stand by their beliefs. I doubt they do.

New season starts in January. How would this play out? Will they not show the episodes now?

Don't think they could stop anything already recorded.

But they could announce tomorrow that they are done with A&e. Guessing they won't.
