A Decommital

A Decommit doesn't necessarily mean hes leaving ...it only means he wants to look and see whats out there...He may still come back, can't blame him for looking around a little its a life decision..in the end he'll see we got it all..

Nah. He gone.

A "decommittal" in this situation may mean we just nabbed Bryce Love or Kelly. This is an example of recruiting to your system with more preferable players. It's not about Reid as much as it is about Butch.

Those 3 have proven nothing. Kamara was suspended twice for behavior issues and injured at Alabama -- far from a proven backup to Hurd.

One JUCO season: 172 carries for 1253 yards 18 rushing TDs & 18 receptions for 224 yards 3 receiving TDs----against JUCO level defenses....Kamara is a legit 5*....and Butch is not the type of HC to waste a scholly on someone he believes is going to be a punk....ZERO TOLERANCE on that with that man.

I don't get why we took the commitment in the first place. Butch knew we were in on a bunch of higher rated prospects.

Kamara is extremely talented and will keep a lot of guys off the field. Does anyone think he is good enough that he could potentially have Hurd sit on the bench?

Hmm, the juco player of the year is far from proven as a backup?? Actually you maybe right, I have a feeling he's going to be the starter come next fall.

Did you just make up a word, OP?

It sort of goes to the heart of the conundrum: how can one commit, which is an act of doing, and then de-commit, which is antithetical to the meaning of the verb? You either do, or do not. A committal, or commitment a noun, makes more sense, but would not work, thus the term de-committal. :rtfm:

Dis-committal or dis-committioning :mega_shok: seems out of place and does not flow. De-committing makes sense, but does not fit in the sentence very well.

To make a short story of it: Yes I did!

Would've liked to have seen Rocky dominate on Rocky Top but it's a crowded backfield at this point. Good luck to you, Rocky. Hope you find what you're looking for.

I think we still need at least one more RB, we are very low in both numbers and experience. Losing both Scott and Paulk hurt us. Lane, Young and Summerhill are a game and gone. Walkon Pickett gone too.

I wish the kid the best of luck on whatever he decides to do now.

He's a player and wants to play and not sit the bench and I understand that too.

Most of us would be the same way.

He sees what we have and what's coming in that he'll have to compete against for playing time and the heat in the kitchen got alot hotter so he's going to look for a cooler kitchen where he'll have it easier to get on the field.

Based on the kids coming in and who's already on the roster losing this kid doesn't hurt us at all.

Our coaches will keep on building...

Ideally, I think CBJ would like to set up a system like Bama- Yeldon & Henry. Split the carries maybe 60/40 and ride the hot hand. Competition brings out the best in most players and I can't wait to see what Hurd & Kamara & Bussey have to show us.

Hurd, Kamara, Berry, Bussey, and Perry. Maybe someone else coming were looking fine at the position. Gonna be a lot of good and bad news from now to signing day. We just have to see where we are when it is all said and done.

Blair looked awesome in Juco too. How'd he work out this year? Kamara couldn't beat out the other freshman RB's that Bama had brought in his class. He's far from a sure thing. Everyone was excited about 4 star Scott too.

Waste a scholarship on a punk? Just about every coach takes players with questionable issues. I'm not knocking Butch for that.

I just find it comical that everyone overlooks these little issues because Kamara is a Vol. Others had subtle bashing comments about Reid because he decommits. The fact remains there is 1 quality back on the roster. It would not hurt to take all 4. Two or so would likely pan out and the others can transfer.

Reid decommitted. He wasn't run off. Butch may still be after him.
