A current player tells a recruit we are loaded and don't need him....

Apparently Dave Hooker was interviewing Deon Walker, a recruit from Virginia, when Walker said that Daryl Vareen told him we are "loaded" at WR and don't need him. He is now considering other schools because of this. This is not a rumor and did come straight from Walker himself. This is a bit disturbing and conceited to be coming from one of our redshirt freshman.

Thoughts??

I found a link to the audio. Seems to me this is exactly what he told him but Walker just didn't come out and say it like that. You be the judge.

I'm wondering if you listened to the same clip I just did. There was nothing in there that indicates that Vereen did anything other than tell him the simple facts about our situation at WR.

I listened to it and Walker was very nice about what Vareen said, but I just don't see how if that's all Vareen said it should keep a competitive football player from coming to UT. It just doesn't make sense to me is all. Whether he told Walker we were loaded and he needs to look elsewhere is hindsight as of now. Even if he did, he was being honest but he still should have left that up to the coaches to inform him of the situation.

i listened to it and you can't expect Vereen to lie. He told him the truth, about who all they had. It's very easy for a receiver to connect the dots and realize he could easily be two years away from seeing the field at UT where there are places he could go and see the field in August.

Agreed.

It sounds like Vereen gave him an honest assessment about the receiver depth chart at UT.

It sounds like Walker didn't want to have to compete for his playing time as a freshman, and decided to go to a school with an easier path to immediate playing time.

some of you are being to harsh on vereen, he told deon a FREIND,the truth, and it was at the end deon's choice
