A couple of Friendly(Gator) thoughts on the game

I am a Gator fan and I have to say his entire game run down is totally off.

We commit alot of penalties, our QB is like a deer in headlights sometimes, our backfield is suspect to say the least, our RB is apparently hurt.

I havent followed you guys. I know Bray is good but if we are to win, a clearly better team will have to show up than the one I have seen in the first two games so far.

That said, NOONE knows what kind of team they have 2 games into the season, that includes the Vols.

Not to mention, other than pride, it really doesnt matter. Alabama is winning the SEC anyway.

Our team is more identifiable at this point than yours.

Believe us...we've been in your shoes...very recently.

So Florida is going to win because of their running game and defense? That's basically what I took from the the original post. Florida has won the last 7 but quite honestly I'm not sure why some Florida fans are so confident. It's a new year and I don't think we all agree that Florida's offense is light years better. It hasn't looked very good to me what so ever.

Tennessee's gonna sling it all over the field. Whooop whooop!

I think the Vols will win by 7-10 pts.

....But then I said both A&M and Mizzou would win last week. So you see how good I am with predictions.

I'm not good at trash talk, and I'd rather discuss football than get banned on a rival board. So, I'll chalk up my thoughts of this game, keys for a victory on either side and hopefully this will stir up some civil discussion.

Some Friendly thoughts:
This game is going to play out like the games of old, but with the roles reversed. (weird, huh?) Tennessee comes in with a high powered offense, one of, if not the best QB/WR skill players in the SEC and reminds me of a fun'n'gun style offense. I'm still not sure how your defense will look, and from the look of the past 2 games your LBers *may* be a little suspect.

Florida comes in as a hard nosed, grind'em out type of team that reminds me of Fulmer's Vols of the 90's. Gilly has been nothing short of superb and leads the SEC in rushing so far this season. The passing attack, while not great, has been very good. Driskel has 0 turnovers and completes a high percentage of passes. We also have a new OC from Boise State (who also coached Kentucky a while back if you remember). He has not opened up the playbook 100% just yet primarily because of the young QBs. I still don't think we'll open it up 100% for you guys, but we'll see more plays, trick plays, etc.

If the stats plays out this year, the team with the most rushing yards should win the game. I'm not sure how your run game is just yet considering the competition you played. If Gilly is able to play through his groin injury, we should be able to limit the number of possessions you have. In the same token, UT should take advantage of some big plays in the passing game. I think defense will dictate who wins this game.

Keys for Tennessee:
1) Limit turnovers. Bray has 0 turnovers. Which is good because he can't afford any if you expect to beat Florida, especially if we are able to establish the run game. You can't expect to score on every possession.

2) Remain healthy. I want this to be a clean, injury free game. You can't afford to have one of your key playmakers go down with an injury this game.

3) Play lights out defense. Contain Gilly, or whoever is our RB for the game. This ideally should be the #1 key.

4) Establish the run. Marlon whatshisname (sorry, name escapes me at the moment) needs to have the game of his life.

Keys to a Florida win:

1) We continue to be a disciplined team. No turnovers or silly penalties.

2) We come out to play for a full 4 quarters. Our defense can't afford to spot UT an entire half. We are more than capable of containing their WRs. TAMU has the potential to have an outstanding offense and we will soon see this in SEC play. Shutting them down in the second half was unbelievable. We need the same output from the D the entire game.

3) Gilly. It looked like he had a groin injury from his last TD run. I hope he'll be fine, but he will be a key to winning. Without him, Brown and Jones will really need to step it up.

4) Continue to open the playbook up for Driskel. I think we can all agree that the offense looked lightyears better than the last 2 years. We need to continue to open it up. I'd like to see some 5 yard slants and maybe some screens thrown in this week.

5) Limit the sacks. Whether it's on the OL or Driskel, we can't afford to have Driskel on his back.

6) Keep their offense off the field by winning the time of possession stat. This will be huge for us if we can limit them to 7 or 8 possessions for the game, or less.

This game will go either way and will be close. It will come down to defense, conditioning and depth. This is why I think Florida will ultimately win. Tennessee will hold a lead going into the half and through the 4th quarter, but our last drive we kick a game winning field goal.

Final Score:

Florida- 23
Tennessee - 21

Don't nobody need to count out our D playing a little harder than they have all year. I guarantee you they will turn it up this week to stop the run. The difference in this game for UT is our players know what this game means in terms of the SEC East. Our team is hungry. UF is trying to find theirself. Pure determination will determine this game and that my friends goes to the boys in Orange. Sentimore has done said it and McCullers is biting his fingernails off waiting for Saturday. Jacques Smith has had "Death" tattooed on his forehead. Lathers has had permanent eye black tattooed down his face. Maggitt and Johnson have already took a knife point and cut a hole in the top of their noses to let the blood run down their face. Say what you want about stats but our boys are fidna be lights out Saturday night in Knoxville. Sunseri's game day shirt will be torn from the neck to half way down his chest. These boys in Orange will be VERY hungry for this game. They smell blood.

A qoute from my favorite movie: You tell I'm coming. And hell's coming with me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Our front 7 will blow up Saturday night. Take that **** to the bank boys.

7 or 8 possessions? Are you serious? We might get that in a half.

TAMU has the potential to have an outstanding offense and we will soon see this in SEC play

A&M doesn't have much of a passing game and makes up for it by running the zone read with very mediocre skill position players. This is not a recipe for success in the SEC.

I can't lie.. this kid is good. I respect him, he's taking a lot and not being a douche about it. I've dealt with way worse Florida fans.

Not a bad point...

...but the rapidity of the piling on was funny as his INT stat was exploited.

If Bray throws 4 picks again, we should just run the Wild Pig all second half like we did against NCST

:eek:lol: no joke. Atleast pig looked great in the wild pig formation. Glad he got his feet wet. Seriously though, the gators are in for a rude awakening in a few days. Lmmfao @ limiting us to 8 possessions!!! Will never ever happen.

This thread is too funny... However Tn should win. Bray has spread the ball around on offense to all our receivers and they have caught the ball hence the high completion percentage. Florida can't cover Hunter, Patterson, Rivera, and Rogers all and hold our run and not leave one of these guys with a 1 on 1 matchup. Also to mention our third best receiver (Rogers) burnt one of the supposeable best DB's in the nation in the NCState game. Two our defense and this team is hungry especially McCullers (no pun intended) he said he is excited to get to play Florida. Three, we have Hunter back, we only lost by 10 last year without Hunter and he is at least worth another touchdown in a game. So with that said all is left is GO VOLS!!!! TN 34 FL 21

Yeah, NC State and Amerson thought they could contain our WRs, too. Except they didn't get a bunch of PI called on them like the Gators did last year. We see how that turned out. Nice try, though.

Also, we will dare Driskell to beat us with his arm. I guarantee you he won't be able to do it. You're going to be so one-dimensional it's silly. Be prepared to have seven years of frustration taken out on you in Neyland.

Vols 35 - Gators 14

Go Big Orange

Two of our starting LBs didnt play vs Georgia State.

They will be playing against you.

Ever had a groin pull? I have.

Good luck with allll that.

It won't be, as part of your gameplan is to hold our receivers on every play.

One thing this game will NOT be is clean.

Dude....your O has looked like crapola.

p.s. You're averaging one sack for ever 3.4 pass attempts.

lol

We're gonna eat your QB's lunch.

What's a gator fan doing living in Clemson, SC? Just curious.

You go to school there? Parents profs? Not a whole lot in Clemson outside of the university.

I graduated with an E.E degree from UCF in 2008 (Music education degree from UF in 2002). The economy was already coming down and I got a job offer from an industry leading company. I took it and have been blessed ever since with the opportunities I have had here. I actually live in a small town called Pendleton, but no one's really heard of it since it's so small. It's a 5-10 minute drive to Death Valley,s o I just tell people I live in Clemson. :good!:

You're right. There's nothing here. It's sort of a central location to many great locations, though. 2 1/2 hours to Atlanta, Columbia and Charlotte, 3-4 hours to Knoxville, 5 hours from Myrtle Beach. Plus, I get to see the changing of the seasons and the mountains which I never saw before living in Florida. I really like it up here. I tried syncing up with one of you (forgot who) a fw years ago, but haven't heard from him since.

We have 2 DBs coming back from suspension also. I believe 2 of our best players (Pop Saunders and Jeremy Brown). I'm hoping they are able to make some plays.

Luckily, I've never had a groin pull, but I'm hoping for the best. I hear he will play, and he played most of the second half with the pull. We'll see. It can and probably will get ugly for us if he doesn't play.

That was last year with the holding. Well see what our gameplan is for this game, but I hope it isn't the same as last year. All you can do as a fan is hope for the best, right?

Thanks for the civil reply back, man. Good luck, Saturday.

No comment on your plan to hold our receivers?

"""We have 2 DBs coming back from suspension also"""

What does that have to do with your claim that our LB corps is suspect?

Dude florida may not score.....our LB's weak? who is this guy?
can we ban him for not knowing stats instead of not swearing????

If Floriday (you) can contain our wide receivers I can fly off the empire st. building, if we (UT) can get any kind of run going to keep your D honest, all you will see of our wideouts is their backs. Take that as gospel gator Jawls.
