I knew Pruitt wasn't the guy before he even coached a game. Him coaching Bama through the playoffs has always left a bad taste in my mouth. He only ever viewed UT as a stepping stone to "bigger and better" things.
The excuses for that were pretty hilarious though. People telling themselves that him staying would actually endear him to his new players. Leavened with a bunch of “doing it the right way unlike kiffin.” The mentality of the sunshine pumpers is incomprehensible to me.
