A breakdown of a healthier team that Pruitt wants on the offseason!

Rock said it would take two years, but FSU did it in one. I don't buy the two year thing, personally. Heck, I was young once and I remember being able to put on muscle and improve my conditioning rather quickly. And I was by no means a college level athlete. Now, if the gym is competing with girls, beer, and video games, yeah it might never happen.

I don't buy your self referencing anecdotal reasoning as to how long "it should take". Nor does looking at how long it takes for a well trained FSU team that played in the NCG for goodness sakes!

If Gullickson, a seasoned well respected team trainer is looking at the team as a whole, existing injuries, level of fitness of each player, etc. and says it will take two years to rebuild the whole team's health and fitness ......well

I'll take the word of a the professional, all day every day.

It’s a message board.
If fluff and otherwise funny stuff weren’t allowed then there’s no need for VN.
Calm down Nancy.

I've noticed. I'm just trying to figure out if there's a point or if we've got thread failure since the article doesn't say anything about a grand plan.

....also, I prefer to be called Shirley when you insult me and I'd appreciate it if next time it was funny.

That injury list and the missed start totals are insane. Even worse is that it has been like that for two years running.

I just hope we don’t leave helmets laying around for people to trip and fall on them....

Butch Jones can blame injuries just as much as his own stubbornness in why he underachieved here. I've never seen a team decimated by injuries like Tennessee has been the last 2 years. All that crap about accountability that Jones regurgitated like a robot didn't seem to inspire his players when it came to weight room work ethic. I'll give Gullickson a pass because he wasn't even here a full year. This mess is all on Jones.

I'm reminded of comments....from an NFL scout I believe....that our upperclass was soft. There's a difference in being hurt vs injured. Anyone who played the game knows you're always going to have something that hurts. You deal with the discomfort and play through it. Being injured is different. I don't think this soft bunch knew the difference. It's why I can't wait to turn this roster over. It's why I don't worry in the least that any recruit who committed to play for Butch decommits. I want the guys that this new staff wants. I want players that hopefully take on the intensity that this new staff reportedly will bring. No, I don't think this huge number of injuries were all bad luck. I think some were...Kirkland for example...but I think there's a lot of softies on this roster who need to go. Kinda wonder is a lot of these "injured" guys were among the group that felt our former S&C coach was working them too hard? That jones allowed players to run their own conditioning blows my mind. What a dumb arse. Such a fuster cluck of a program under Butch and the boys. And I'm sure it was much worse than what we were aware of. No, it's time to gut this roster and program. Clean it all out and start fresh. New faces, new attitudes and new rules.

I'm ok with the article. It includes information I hadn't heard or paid attention to. When it comes to the health of student athletes, that would be priority one with me. I hope Pruitt works with the University and Medical Center to get these young men healthy. If their injuries are going to keep them from contributing, find a way to let them finish with a degree and give the football scholly to someone else. The strength, conditioning, and injury coach will need to be a miracle worker if UT is going to get back in the thick of SEC competition.

Agree with pretty much everything here. I’ve echoed your thoughts about needing to turn the roster over for awhile now. I’ve actually named the kids on the roster (the ones we’ve actually seen play) at the moment who have enough talent and who play with the toughness and attitude needed to win at a high SEC level....needless to say, it’s an awfully short list.
