The Huskers beat number 10 Kansas in Nov. of '95 41-3. Just FYI. I'd still pick Miami in a head to head game, just because there has never been an assemblence of talent like that one.

41-3 is very impressive, but it isn't as good as 59-0 and 65-7 over top 15 teams in consecutive weeks.

How about 62-24 in the National Championship.

Maimi's win over Nebraska was pretty equally dominant I'd say. I don't remember the Nebraska Florida game, seeing has how I was four, but I do know the Miami Nebraska title game was a lot more of a blowout than the final score indicated. Miami was up 34-0 in the first half before they stopped trying.

You're right, I remember that now. Tennessee would have to of played the games of their lifes to win, but I think they would have put up a much tougher fight than Nebraska that year.

98 team would win. Our 98 team would have beat that Georgia and LSU team that the 01 team lost to.

98 defense would shutdown the 01 offense. Probably still a close game...something like 24-10.

'01 Miami never played '95 Nebraska's triple option. Not with the players Nebraska had that were fast and knew too well what they were doing.

As for defense, I seem to remember a team that didn't allow a single point in the regular season :whistling:.

If you're talking about the 1939 UT team you're right except the lost the bowl game to Southern Cal 14-0...not a good way to end a "no hitter" season

In 01 Nebraska was probably the most undeserving of any team to play in the National Championship game. They didnt even win their conference that year, and Im sure 5 to 10 teams would have beaten that year in the National Championship. We were way better than Nebraska in 01.

Personally, I can only rem the 01' Hurricanes...but didnt espn predict the best team ever I think they picked 01' Miami, but the fans picked 95' Nebraska

Question was 98 team or 01 team!!!!

98 team DID NOT LOSE A GAME! 2001 team lost 2! End of discussion! 98 team was better.

And since we all know that ESPN is the devil we can conclude that '95 Nebraska was better than '01 Miami.

The 95 Nebraska team looked like a Super Bowl championship team playing against a Pop Warner team when they lit up Florida in the Fiesta Bowl to win the national championship. The 2001 Miami team was tremendous. However, the 95 Cornhuskers would have mauled them in the trenches and won decisively in a head-to-head matchup.

Also, the premise of this thread is laughable. The 1998, 1997 and 1996 UT squads ALL would have dismantled the 2001 team.

Bowl games back then were exhibition events. I'm sure it didn't help that the game was played 5 minutes from USC. Don't you think traveling across the country was somewhat of disadvantage back in the 30's?
