98 squad vs 2001 squad

2001 would have a better offense....
1998 would have a better defense....
...I'd take 98' that just had something special that year, that no matter what they could pull the games through

'98 was probably better at every position except for TE (Finlayson v. Witten), and DT (2001 had Haynesworth and Henderson). Both teams loaded with talent on both sides of the ball, and strong in the trenches.

nothing against J. Lewis, but when I think of the 98 team, I think of Travis Henry.

Of course...Henry stepped up and had a great season.

Prior to his injury though, Jamal was having a fantastic year as Tennessee's feature back.

Jamal. I wouldn't count him since he didn't even play half the season.

How can you not "count him?" He was on the team.

He was largely responsible for Tennessee's wins over Syracuse and Auburn before going down for the season.

If 01 squad beat lsu in sec championship would we have beat miami to claim another championship?

Miami would have won by multiple TDs......IMO that was the best team I have ever seen in college football.

That 01 team was capable of beating anyone. I think Miami would have probably won but they were definitely beatable.

The only way I could have seen them losing that year was if there was a team that could sneak up on them. (Like Boston College or VT) Coker wasn't the best in game coach. But I doubt Miami would have had a hard time getting up for the championship. I would say Miami by 20-30.

Just so you know, the 1998 team scored more points a game than the 2001 team.

The '98 team would completely destroy the 2001 team. There hasn't been an SEC team since 1998 that I don't think that team would beat.
