I'm curious for those that are extremely negative on DD if a 9-3 regular season would still be too little to convince you he should get another year. Assuming of course the loss is to Bama.

If he goes 8-4 he will get another year. The buyout is too much IMO. I hope we can go 9-3

No. 9-3 he's golden. 8-4 with a win vs Bama would have the same effect.

For most of us it would be very good considering the condition of the program when he arrived.

8-4 is attainable , 9-3 is a stretch, but not outside the realm of possibility. Bama is human. I watched Ole Miss score on a 13 play drive. Bama took over , but Ole Miss started getting ripped on every call. Bama is still not that great against the deep ball. USCjr is good too, but also beatable. There are some great teams in the SEC. we need to step up and be one of them

6-6 with a win over Bama he stays and next year is sitting on the hottest hot seat any coach has ever sat on anywhere ever.

That's about the only possible way he stays with 6 wins. 7 wins he stays.

Yeah, 8-4 is a no brainer. 7-5 is where it starts getting a little dicy.

I may be wrong, but here is what I think AD Dave Hart is looking for....one signature victory. in 2008, Hammy was searching for one key victory to keep Phil around...at USCjr, UGA, someone...it didn't happen.

If Dools can't pull an upset over one of these next three, then it might get interesting.

Should he lose to Miss State, Bama, USCjr and Missouri..........then I think Dools is gone. But I think he will win a couple of those.

I agreee with the sentiment that if he goes 8-4 he is 100% safe.

7-5 would be interesting...I would lean toward him being safe at this point...unless all the rest of the losses were blowouts.

You all are crazy if you think Hart fires Dooley if we were to go 8-4. That is a 3 game win improvement. That is obviously a move in the right direction and 100% mean he deserves one more season.

It wouldn't get him a lifetime extension by any means but it would be idiotic to fire him if that is how the season plays out.

7+ wins will show improvement and Dools won't even sniff the hot seat.

If we go 9-3 that would be amazing because it would include a win over either Saban or Spurrier, which would be a happy moment and would buy DD some time.

Obviously, if Dooley gets 9 regular season wins he will be back next year. If that happens, I'm going to see what the 2013 recruiting class looks like and see how things go next year before I get revved up again.

I cant agree more, 8-4 is obtainable but more realistic is 7-5 if some tweaks are not made on the defense. The good news is this is very fixable and will be, but the growing pains of the new 3-4 has cost us 2 games. Overall i know we will get better, i love the Vols and will always its in my blood.GO BIG ORANGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Before the season started I was saying 9-3. After the first five games I'm thinking more around 7-5 now. Hope I'm wrong. Still a Vols fan either way. GBO!
