9/11: Never Forget

I was a store manager at a Blockbuster video. I was driving to the bank that morning, and the radio had cut away to the news, saying something about a plane crashing into the WTC. I got to the bank, asked the teller if she had heard anything - she said "no", and I proceeded back to the store.

When I arrived, I went to our DirecTV kiosk. I turned it to NBC and told my coworker to check this out. Right as she did, the second plane hit. And then the Pentagon. And then the field in PA.

And then all the speculation.

Never Forget.

Watch this:

"In remembrance of the 10th anniversary of September 11th, the 11 members of the United States Naval Academy's Contemporary Acapella group, the Anchormen, pause to honor the lives of those affected by one of the worst attacks on American soil. This video is meant as a tribute to those who gave their lives 10 years ago as well as the men and women who currently stand in defense of this great nation. We hope to remind everyone, that we as a nation have never forgotten you, and we will continue to fight to protect the liberties we as Americans cherish."

I can't believe how long ago it was, where does the time go?

RIP those who had their lives tragically ended.

And thoughts go out today to everyone affected by it.

I'll never forget. We live in a great nation regardless of what university you support or what your political stance is. It is a shame that our country only comes together for this one day. But together nonetheless we stand and always will in rememberance. God Bless the United States of America.

I was in class at UT when it happened. The tv was on in the room because the first plane had hit, then the second. My teacher started balling and explained that her son was an army ranger and that she knew he would be going to go fight. Then after getting out of class all the students were hearing rumors that Oak Ridge was a possible target. That was a scary day. My sympathies to the victims and to all that have given their lives or have been wounded for the fight.

My mom lived in Jersey City at the time and actually has photographs she took of the buildings. One of them has the second plane flying in.

My brother went to Fordham at the time and one of his teammates was killed on 9/11.

I remember I was in an elevator in clement hall coming back from an 8 am class and some guy mentioned a plane hitting WTC. Didn't really think much of it until I turned on the tv in my dorm room and the rest is history.

Flew to NYC to see my mom about a week and a half after it happened and it was eerie to see ground zero and all the military going around.

Also, I am dark skinned so flying out of Knoxville was a nightmare. I had to get down to basically my underwear and searched in front of a lot of people and when I boarded the plane people were just staring at me. I understood their concerns at the time, but it wasn't fun.

I feel for you man, nobody should be discriminated against like that. People get paranoid after big events. It was the same here after 7/7.

I'll be that guy. Why is this in the football forum? It has nothing to do with football.

Why say anything? Because threads like this invariably devolve into inane political rantings...

Never forget, but we may vote to decide if we'll now support Al Qaeda......(shaking head)..... Not sure which hurts worse what happened 9/11 and the feeling watching that first building fall, or what has happened to my country since. :frown:

Furthermore, this thread is unnecessary. No one has "forgotten".
