Saw this thread on TOS while scanning and thought it would be a good one to steal.

So we are at 15 commitments and Thomas will count against this class. Assuming we have a full haul who are your final 9?

WR Croom
WR Patterson
OT Jelks
DE Autry
DT O'Brien
LB Javiere Mitchell
DT McCullers
TE Jackson

So, 23 spots total. That was what I was curious about earlier today. Have to say that Autry, O'Brien and Patterson are the ones that I want the most.

Your first 4 are good. I dunno about the other 4. OBrien seems to be in love with Michigan, so I think they will find him a spot. I think we may get Koren Kirven, Watson, Darius Hamilton, and Artus Peat.

I don't understand why Bullard would count against the class. Wasn't he a transfer? When did transfers start counting against recruiting? Have I missed a rule change?

He isn't on scholarship this year.

He isn't on scholarship this year. When he goes on scholarship next year, it will go against the 85. That means it gives us one less spot to give out this year.

Assuming attrition happens, as it must, then would his scholly count against the 25? I understand he will get a scholly, but does that actually count against our recruiting numbers? Whether others like it or not, players who haven't performed will be "encouraged" to move on. That's a given. So Dooley just needs to trim enough fat, right? I guess I'm not as familiar with the rule as I thought. Can someone dumb it down for me?

Bullard wont count toward this class totals, but he will take a scholie next year and we are up against the 85 limit. So it would be one more current player we'd have to lose in order to sign a full class. Technically we can sign 24 in this class.

One more question, won't Dooley have to encourage some current players to move on anyway to make room for this class? I thought we were technically looking at room for something like 16-18 free schollies for next year, so anything over that would mean more players leaving. Am I wrong on the numbers?

Sounds about right. I havent looked at the numbers lately but we'll need some significant attrition over the next 12 months to enroll a full class. I;m guessing 7-8 players.

On the topic of attrition, anything ever come of the stupid "defensive starter who cannot be named will be declared academically inelligible" thread from tuesday?
