I certainly agree. the 1970 vols had the best secoundry in cillege football. Butch and co. should view this over and over again till it sinks in. being fast is Not the only requirement needed you must find the ball early and keep That as your focal point till the whistle is blown. Just saying!

I do like Marvin's articles. And, I have nothing to argue with here. The Vandy game put us at a crossroads. No adjustments in the second half. Tennessee simply got out-coached. Don't fire Butch. But, he needs to let his coaches coach. What we've seen for the last 4 years isn't working. Strong recruiting gave us elite athletes that can win some games just on talent.

I agree. Marvin West has been around Tennessee football longer than the majority of fans have lived. He doesn't throw sarcasm, veiled insults, nor does he try to incite the masses. In fact, I don't think he ever has. He just writes about what he can see.

I feel Butch doesn't care what many in the media have to say, but I think listening to Marvin might be in his and the programs best interests.

Butch and some of the media have been at odds longer than that. Remember Butch's comments after the Florida game? I am not sure what exactly started it, nor exactly which reporters are involved, but there has obviously been things some have reported that have perhaps been misinterpreted or an undue invasion of a player's rights to privacy. (And before some lamebrain quotes the first amendment, a football practice facility is not city hall. Some things are not the entire world's business.)

The "Champions of Life" comment was in reference to the majority of the seniors. And the press who made the most of it are probably ones Butch should ban from practices. Access to ATC is a privilege for a member of the press, not an inalienable right.

Butch dropped two games he shouldn't have while winning others we were 50/50 in. Imagine he lost the 50/50 ones. He is a decent recruiter but game day coach is severely lacking.
