Sure there is some. I didn’t say we produced none but in comparison to our surroundings it isn’t much at all. Also we can’t keep many of the ones that are homegrown because uga, Clem and bama take what they wantI disagree completely. You may not have heard of Jalen Ramsey or Cade Mays. Trey Knox and Woodi Washington came out of middle TN last year and are doing well for other teams. Ever heard the name Tee Higgins? Vonn Bell? There are loads of talented kids coming out of TN and deciding to play elsewhere. Talent is here in state. I am all about getting talent from other states, but if PSU and Baylor can make strides for improvement, UT can as well; with in state talent or talent from surrounding states.
Isn’t this exactly why we ran Butch out of town? Because we wanted more than 8-4 with a bowl win?Why can’t we at least be a 8-4 or 7-5 consistent team at this point, I would take that why do we have to be so bottom of the barrel terrible. It’s no excuse with all the resources we have that we can’t at least be as good as Miss. St. and South Carolina or Mizzou. We may never see a run of success like we had in the 90’s again I will harshly accept that after 10 plus years of constant losing but we should at least be a 8-4 or occasionally a 9-3 team.
Sure but both of those schools have the luxury of taking what they want from their state and then cherrypicking what they want from others. However they both built their base from locking up their states and now have the luxury of becoming a national brand...we don’t exactly have thatvery little of Clemsons roster is from SC. Even georgie has a bunch of kids from out of state.
I don't agree with that on Clemson. SC has good talent but they've always gotten good players from Charlotte and Atlanta. Clemson shows that Tennessee can be competitive. If we can identify the problem (coaching? AD? Admin?) and fix that, things can turn around.Sure but both of those schools have the luxury of taking what they want from their state and then cherrypicking what they want from others. Here is what you said "Those states produce talent. We do not. " UGA, Clem and Bama take what they want because there is talent here. I'm not going to argue with you, in state talent is not the issue. We need a coaching staff that can build a program. I am fine with a 5 year rebuild, if that is what it takes, but if I don't see some sort of improvement then I have the right to doubt the staff responsible for developing our talent....regardless of where the kids come from, in state our out.Sure there is some. Ok they produce more top tier talent and more overall. Better? This staff somehow(especially considering their cost) can’t recruit as well as they should on paper. Getting 20 3 stars won’t speed up a rebuild imo. Also I sit here and watch uga come out vanilla weekly then adjust as the game goes and regularly dominate the second half. We go out there tonight get a good start and never bother evolving to their adjustments. It’s mind bogglingHere is what you said "Those states produce talent. We do not. Would you go back and read my initial post? We are saying the same thing. I am frustrated with the staff in place and their inability to show improvement. At UT we do not have the dark clouds over us like what Baylor and PSU had. We should not need 5, 7 , 10 years or more to see improvement. We should be able to rebound as quickly or more quickly than programs like Baylor or PSU. Hell, SMU is ranked now....hope we don't need 30 something years to get back to relevance.Ok they produce more top tier talent and more overall. Better? Agree. Also we have the 16th most talented roster in the country. With our current recruiting it’s trending the wrong way. If we can’t win with the 16th how are we supposed to recruit. What I’m saying is we can’t rely on in state like some other schools can. So we have to expand but with our current brand I don’t see it. Also our talent isn’t all underclassmen. I hear folks on here say that all the time. Yes we are young but the talent is close to and even split with upper classmen. If we have the 16th best roster we should at least be in the top 25?50?Would you go back and read my initial post? We are saying the same thing. TN is 1-4 because of qb play. If Maurer played all year this team is no worse than 3-2.There simply isn’t one. There is no legitimate argument for Tennessee being 1-4 right now.......zero.
There are lots of arguments for Tennessee losing to Georgia......but not for their record and not for how awful they have plyed.
