Highlights:
  • Spoke of physical and mental toughness, effort, creating your identity, and making sure fundamentals are there, because that's what you go to when you're tired or things get tough.
  • Stresses the importance of camp time before classes start, because of little distractions.
  • Lots of competition.
  • 25 practices in camp.
  • 109 guys ready to go, 1 still has some stuff to get taken care of (didn't say who)
  • Trey Smith currently doing everything except contact drills
  • Trey Smith will be cleared for contact around 8/19-8/20.
  • No answer on what position Trey will play, but they want to figure that out in the meantime and then put him somewhere and leave him.
  • Chance Hall is released to practice without limitations, but the staff knows he hasn't played in a year, and will need to have his reps limited initially. They have a plan for him to get him ready for the season, and he is itching to get in there.
  • Jauan will be a little bit limited headed into practice. Sounded like's going to treat him similar to Chance Hall situation.
  • Todd Kelly Jr is a "full go"
  • We have 20 OL.
  • Was always impressed with Tyson Helton, going back to when Pruitt was at Hoover and Helton was recruiting there. Have been closely connected through the years and has always done a fantastic job wherever he's been.
  • Has always had the policy of only the HC answering to the media wherever he's been, and when he was an assistant he appreciated being able to focus on the team, and not deal with media. Also helps with speaking with "one voice".
  • Alontae Taylor will be started at DB, but he has the ability to be a WR, either side of the ball. Mentioned he will start at CB, to create competition.
  • Wants to treat choice of the QB the same as he would any other position (mentioned OLB). If there are multiple players who are even at the top, they both will play.
  • Administration has given us everything we need to have success. Over the next couple years, you'll see vast improvement.
  • The most important deciding factor in choosing a QB is what he does when he gets the ball.
  • Complimented players' performance in the classroom, weight room, and nutritionally.
  • On moving Kongbo from DL to LB. He'll play DE in 3-4 and LB in 4-3, moving a few feet over, so not a big change.
NO MENTION OF ANY NEW OR ONGOING INJURIES

I'm not meant to see this video. Other threads it don't play, this one is just coach leaving the stand

It does the same thing to me. You just have to rewind it once the video starts.

Edit: I changed the media link to start at 2:20, so the OP should force it to start when the PC starts now.

I am glad they are letting Jennings heal up all the way, that alone shows me how good this coaching staff is going to be.

I felt like last year the old staff rushed injured players back on to the field and I just don't see that happening this year with the new staff.
