Tennessee defeated Tennessee Tech 68 to 0 on October 28, 1951. All American, Hank Lauricella, led the Vols including a 76 yard touchdown run.

My late father saved a lot of old Knoxville News Sentinel papers on the Vols and this is one of many. Papers were a lot larger back then, measuring 33" x 23.5".

Thought you guys might enjoy a pic of this from the great Neyland-led 1951 National Champions.

Man, I miss printed papers. Used to look forward to the Sunday KNS so I could cut out the pictures of my favorite Vols so I could put 'em into a scrapbook. Dad used to get frustrated when I'd do my cuttin' before he had the chance to read it. I do miss those simpler times.

Damn, I was just wondering the other day exactly when Bill Meyer signed that one-year deal

I loved the Dyergrams. Have never seen anything to compare to them.

I carried a KNS paper route in Colonial Village in the mid 60s. Hated getting up at 4 AM to deliver on Sunday but loved those Dyergrams after I got done.
Back in '63, I had the route starting off Chapman Hwy, ending off Redbud Hill. Meanest german shepherd running free I ever saw. Sunday mornings, rest afternoons. Never made enough $ to buy a coke! You must have had the Butterfly Lake route- no hills. Woulda liked that one! Those were the days. Fell in love with a couple of spots though!

Dang this takes me back. We may have had adjacent routes. I had about 65 everyday customers and a few Sunday only. Would pick up in the J&J parking lot and deliver down Acadian, Hamilton, Hanover, up Magazine Rd (past our own house) to Ford Valley, down Stonecrest to the creek etc. Used to fish in Butterfly Lake.
