7 wins a year starting next year

I’d love nothing more, but until we can consistently play like a national contender away from Neyland, I expect us to drop a minimum of two road games.
Love the optimism and I hope so. But seems more likely we're going to hold around 9 to 10 wins with the occasional 8 win season. Would love to see some staff changes to help where we're struggling. If that happens, I believe we can make a serious run and be a regular contender.

Depends, if we can get well rounded on both sides of the ball with talent, I think this staff can win big.
7 wins a year will be the average for this coaching staff. The schedules get brutal and I don’t see us beating any good teams on a consistent basis. Fair or not Heupel will be on the hot seat next year watch

Has Faizon even played this season? I’m not sold on the Freshman hype big deal NIL QBs. It has taken Arch midway through his third year if development to look like the bill of goods everyone purchased. Give me a seasoned player with some experience rather than a high school player that hadn’t played in a year.
I think Joey A.'s success made everyone take a step back, and see the potential getting a seasoned player can have in ANY position, let alone QB. EVERY COACH in the country is now saying hmmm
With what CJH brought us back from, i'm more than willing as a fan, to sit back and watch them learn how to COACH in this new NIL era.
Mistakes will be made, but I'll be here in ORANGE for all of it.

Sure hope we don't do a full redshirt year with Faizon, like Nico.

That’s your opinion, but I think I will see how things play out. I don’t really see the reason for you to make a thread on an opinion that truly doesn’t have any more clue how things will shake out than anyone else. Lots of positives going forward, the league is going to be tough for everyone. But folks like to their thoughts known on message boards. Be sure to come back and discuss this in a few years, don’t disappear on us now. GBO!!!!!

16 teams in the SEC. 2 of them will compete for the SEC Championship every year, and there's a good chance both of them make the CFP. Especially if/when it expands to 16 or more.

With the resources it has, no reason UT should not be in that conversation every year. If not, then they should be doing whatever it takes to get there.

8-4 isn't going to get it done.

We have had a brutal schedule for the last 50 years

Sad some fans drink the koolaid and like it. Banks needs to be shown the door. 3rd and long bites us every game. We make scrambling QBs Superman all the time. When a starting corner goes down we don’t seem to ever have anyone ready to step up.! And this gimmick offense needs to be replaced with a more NFL style that focused on more crossing routes and less on snapping the ball so fast. I miss the I formation pound games. Defense wins titles. Not slinging it around 60 times a game. Yes we run the ball a lot. But we can’t seem to get 4th and short in critical situations when we need it. Warm up the moving trucks. This staff has peeked.
Who in the NFL is running the I formation?

Our 3rd down defense *is* bad this year, but, dude....we're missing how many starters?
I'm not happy that it's not good, but let's have a little perspective on the drop off from losing both corners and your all-SEC LB.
On D, we are 8th in sacks per game, but 90th in passer rating. We're relying on frosh/soph corners to cover future pro WR. Depth was a concern going in and we ended up with multiple injuries.

We are 1st in the nation in 4th down conversions.

I don't get all of the 'brutal' talk I see on various posts about '26 schedule. Given where most of those programs are and keeping in mind who they will lose off of this years version, combined with who is home vs. away, I'll take it. It's the SEC baby, ain't easy, but I just don't see '26 as 'brutal.'
