What's the prize if we win? Anyway here my current best guess based on everything I've gathered.
1. Lamin
2. Reed
Yes we need 2 JUCO DT's IMO, and it seems like Butch agrees. Lambert could play SDE and slide inside in passing situations. Those 3 would make a stout front along with Williams. Lamin won't be easy to flip, but I figure he a Reed could easily carpool home on holidays.
3. Hendrix
4. Mosley
You'd like to ease these guys in, along with Barnett and Henderson. Also signing the 3 JUCOs above would allow you to redshirt a couple of these HS guys. That would be a STRONG DLine foundation to build on. Regardless of what Matthews said, I think Thomas is a back up plan.
5. Garrett
This one will be tough to pull but with Thig on it, I think we have a chance. I'm convinced this class needs at least one more LB and Garrett would be perfect. If we miss him, we'll have to ramp it up on one few remaining targets.
6. Genesy
None of the HS commits are likely to contribute much in year 1, IMO. It'd be nice to redshirt at least 2 of them. But the Oline needs help now, and this guy would fit in nicely at RT.
7. Malone
Although I still don't feel real good about getting him, you gotta include him at this point. Would be a major disappoint to miss.
8. Pearson
I still can't figure out why this class needs a JUCO WR, but apparently Butch wants one and this guy is good, and seems to be on the verge of committing.
How does this work? Paulk and Dews grayshirt, and Bryant is sign and place. Also, The Berry's will be part of this class, but big bro provides their tuition the first 2 years. I know it seems unlikely, but I've seen more than one insider hint that it is a real possibility. What better way is there to donate to your alma mater than to help it rebuild in such a tangible way?
So it's a 32 member class with every hole filled, IMO, except maybe RB. I'd still like to find a way to pick up one more RB, and wouldn't be surprised if one the spots above goes to a RB instead. But either way, if it finishes like I think, it'll be the best overall class I can remember in my almost 30 years of following it, both in terms of filling needs for next year, and rebuilding the roster for the future. :crossfingers:
