7 spots left...make your best guess!

Hendrix, Berry X2, Malone, Mosely, Pearson and Thomas and a decent chance to land Garrett. I'll take that any day of the week and twice on Sunday. #Govols

I don't think we need a JUCO DT....that was what Lambert was for. I think an addition of Hendrix will take care of that. That gives us two DEs and two DTs. Assuming Bryant doesn't qualify, Garrett would essentially just take his place (HOW ABOUT THAT LB HAUL: BATES, MOUHON, GARRETT, WOW) I dont know how many spots we have or how many we can take, but we all just gotta believe in Butch.

Why do we keep talking about grey-shirts? I don't think we are in any position to grey-shirt anybody from a roster standpoint. I see that everybody is just taking the 2-3 lowest rated guys and automatically saying that they will gs. Why would we g.s. anyone? CBJ and crew are killing it in recruiting in just the first year, so we are going to stockpile 2 and 3* guys to kick off our 15 class? We're not planning to gs anybody because we would more than likely recruit over them by next class.

Paulk would be the only one I would think would be an option due to his injury.

Dews because he's a year younger than students in his grade also VQ has speculated.

is it possible to sticky this or some type of countdown thread specific to numbers i. the 2014 class? i know we have 2014 commits thread stickied, but, discussion is off topic it appears theres two or three threads circulating regarding same material?

Last 7 spots

Pettway
Lamin
Reed
Berry
Berry
Moseley
Pearson

we will keep one spot open for Malone but I don't think he will sign and then we get one space for Jackson and/or Garrett

Hendrix has to be in any list IMO

What's the prize if we win? Anyway here my current best guess based on everything I've gathered.

1. Lamin
2. Reed
Yes we need 2 JUCO DT's IMO, and it seems like Butch agrees. Lambert could play SDE and slide inside in passing situations. Those 3 would make a stout front along with Williams. Lamin won't be easy to flip, but I figure he a Reed could easily carpool home on holidays.

3. Hendrix
4. Mosley
You'd like to ease these guys in, along with Barnett and Henderson. Also signing the 3 JUCOs above would allow you to redshirt a couple of these HS guys. That would be a STRONG DLine foundation to build on. Regardless of what Matthews said, I think Thomas is a back up plan.

5. Garrett
This one will be tough to pull but with Thig on it, I think we have a chance. I'm convinced this class needs at least one more LB and Garrett would be perfect. If we miss him, we'll have to ramp it up on one few remaining targets.

6. Genesy
None of the HS commits are likely to contribute much in year 1, IMO. It'd be nice to redshirt at least 2 of them. But the Oline needs help now, and this guy would fit in nicely at RT.

7. Malone
Although I still don't feel real good about getting him, you gotta include him at this point. Would be a major disappoint to miss.

8. Pearson
I still can't figure out why this class needs a JUCO WR, but apparently Butch wants one and this guy is good, and seems to be on the verge of committing.

How does this work? Paulk and Dews grayshirt, and Bryant is sign and place. Also, The Berry's will be part of this class, but big bro provides their tuition the first 2 years. I know it seems unlikely, but I've seen more than one insider hint that it is a real possibility. What better way is there to donate to your alma mater than to help it rebuild in such a tangible way?

So it's a 32 member class with every hole filled, IMO, except maybe RB. I'd still like to find a way to pick up one more RB, and wouldn't be surprised if one the spots above goes to a RB instead. But either way, if it finishes like I think, it'll be the best overall class I can remember in my almost 30 years of following it, both in terms of filling needs for next year, and rebuilding the roster for the future. :crossfingers:

I know it's been asked probably a lot on here, but how many do we have left now with Pearson? I heard something about grey shirting some commits. Idk exactly how many we can take this year

Right now we are at 27, so as of now room for 3. There's a lot of grey shirt and decommit possibilities though, I would say the staff is looking to take about 7-9 more if they're the right guys.

My prediction:

Pettway
Reed
Gennessy
Malone
Berry
Berry
Hendrix
Mosley
Judd

Going off of the OP (i.e. Jackson and Dews not counting):

1&2) Berry Twins
3)Hendrix
4)Mosley
5)Malone
6)Pettway/Reed/McDowdell (pay your money, take your choice)

Also I think that they would take A. Jackson or C. Garrett, if they wanted in.

I don't know how the numbers will work, but I don't think they'll make Paulk take a GS. IMO it would be best for both parties if Paulk rehabs at UT with all of our resources. Maybe the Berry twins have already offered to walk on, or maybe the staff doesn't feel so good about Malone. Butch will work something out regardless, and I am definitely not doubting him at this point.

I believe we will take 8 additional committs.

Elliott Berry
Evan Berry
Dwayne Hendrix
Charles Moseley
Lance McDowell
Josh Malone

Then I think we get 2 out of the following...

Juco DL
Juco OL
A. Jackson
C. Garrett
Jakob Johnson
Big Fish

Also wouldnt be shocked if we take more then 8 depending on who it is.

1&2 - Berry's
3 - Mosley
4 - Malone

That is all we have room for or are expected to have (3 right now with anticipated loss of Jackson.)

If we take any more, we have to be prepared to lose some of those already committed. I wonder if the committment of Booth and our heavy pursuit of Malone would scare off somebody like Booth. If we take more than that, we have to give up somebody. I do NOT think any Grey-shirts are in the works for anybody this year. We are nowhere in the position to be doing that with our roster.

I don't think Malone would scare off Booth based on a lot of his comments about not being scared of competition. If we are operating under the assumption that we only have 4 spots left, I would replace Mosley with Hendrix. Hendrix seems like a 98% lock.

Disclosure fantasy post ahead*

*How cool would it be if all these Legacy Commits walked on and paid their own way. To have one MEGA never before seen type class. Again fantasy world I know but it TK Jr,Wharton, Bates, The Berrys, Creamer, and Brown all walked on.

I think at least 8-10 more, but 7 in no particular order.

1. Mosley
2. Gennesy
3. Reed
4. Berry
5. Berry
6. Malone
7. Hendrix

Haters gonna flame, but whatever. I think we take:
Garrett
Malone
Hendrix
Mosley
Cory Thomas
Lavon Pearson

The guys below will continue to be recruited heavily up until NSD either because they are must takes or to fill in extra spots if there are de-commits or guys get in trouble/don't qualify:
Berry X2
Andrew Williams
Adoree Jackson
Avery Gennesy
Matt Elam
Abu Lamin
Braxton Berrios
Lauderdale

1 down, 5 to go

With all the VFL talk, the high character guys, TN kids, and legacies we have committed...I just don't see a bunch of de-commitments.

Right now we have 3 spots left open. 4 with a Dews greyshirt (IMO-he greys or goes). 5 if Bryant does not qualify. 6 if K. Jackson is not a member of the class. Outside chance of Raulerson leaving if one of the major florida schools pursue him.

2 spots are Berrys. That leaves 3-5 left open.

1-Malone
2 and 3-DT......Lamin, Reed, Mosley, etc., etc.
4-Hendrix
5-Garrett or Gennesey
