7-5 should not be extra year for Dooley.

before the season started most of you were saying they would finish 6-6 or 7-5 so what has changed to tell you all that 7-5 isnt good enough.

IMO it is the product hitting the field every week. I think people realize we are still rebuilding. The problem is there is no improvement as the year progresses.
I personally think the team looked its best in game one against NC ST. They play good, gave the fans hope and have preformed worse each week since.
The 1st half of the Miss St game was terrible. I think that game was the last straw, so to speak.

After thinking about the financial situation at UT, I'm starting to think that if Dooley can win out and finish 7-5 that he may indeed be retained. Now the sad part, I fear that with so much fan discontent and his SEC record, recruiting will continue to suffer. Let's face it, Dooley's not a very good recruiter and hasn't kept pace with top SEC teams, thus I see the Vols continuing to be a lower tier SEC team and as painful as it may be.....I don't expect the Vols to compete for the SEC Championship any time in the near future. It's just hard to swallow considering what we used to be.....

I said 8-4 or 9-3. This team was capable of that, and they failed. The problem with 7-5 is that they will get there (if they do) without any significant wins. For every step forward they have taken on offense, they have regressed on defense. Looking at the inability to win games against good (ranked) teams, the downward trend in recruiting rankings, high staff turnover, decreasing ticket and merchandise sales, and the realities of the SEC, I feel that it is clear that UT needs a change.

Rebuilding : will be continous..non stop under Dooley, we'll be lucky to be 7-5 next year probably more like 6-6
then the next year...ect

Why is fans making a big deal about going 7-5 ? What have we accomplished beating NC state and cupcakes? If we finish 4-0 we would have beaten a 4-4 mid major Troy,4-4 Missouri,4-4 Vandy and a terrible 1-8 UK.

You know there's about seven billion other threads saying the same thing? Just bc you have the power to start your own thread doesn't mean you should...:ermm:

I can't say for sure with statistics, but I feel that most felt 8-4 was minimum, with a win or two against a ranked opponent. I think most were very disappointed with the Florida loss.

Most expected 8-4 with a win over Florida, and Miss. St. Not gonna happen. 7-5 will be a tough one to call.

What????? If we would of won vs florida and Miss. St. we would be 9-3 not 8-4 at end of year, considering we win out the rest of the year.

I Dont know why everyone is so suprised at this season? What did you expect a SEC Title and a NC?

Everyone Predicted 7-5 or 8-4.

3 plays and a couple of inches is what is the difference in a 3-5 record and a 5-3 record.

The difference between 8-4 and 7-5 is significant-- 8-4 means a win over somebody mid-tier in the SEC; 7-5 means beating nobody but cupcakes and fellow cellar dwellers for the third year in a row. If we go 7-5 and our AD thinks we should settle for the status quo because he can't find anybody better, then we have the wrong AD, the wrong coach and the wrong attitude. And that's an even bigger problem.

I heard Jimmy Himes on 104.5 this morning saying that he heard from a "very reliable" source that Dooley will not be fired if he wins out. Just thought I'd share FWIW.

It gives the Doolittles fans something to cheer about...Beating meaningless teams and padding an otherwise failure of a season gives them a chance to tell the world the same old crap they have been spewing for the past 2 season "Oh Dooley has us going in the right direction, He needs more time and he needs to get his own recruits in there!" If they only knew how stupid they sound :eek:lol:
