7-5 should not be extra year for Dooley.

Pretty sure almost everyone agreed he needed 8+ regular season wins to save his job.
Not saying everyone but still quite a few feeling sorry for Dooley because things have not worked out. Don't really do the threads that much but don't understand some love fans have towards Dooley.

So you just don't understand why everybody else doesn't share your feelings?

I think that 6-6 will get him another year. If Hart was going to axe him, seems we would have made the move on Monday. That way, we could have got the cream of the crop from the new blood. He didn't pull the trigger, so I am afraid that means we are facing another 13 months of Dools.

No. He is done at UT. He has proven what he is capable of. We get it. However he had already proven himself at LM and we hired him based in that. Do in retrospect, we got just what we should have expected

If we go 6-6 and Dooley is back.....the meltdown on here will be historic.

You're assuming he would dump Jennifer Aniston publicly before hooking up with Angelina. I don't think it's working that way in this case.

I don't think 8-5 saves his job

I think 8-5 should save his job unless TN can land JG or another BIG name. Without a splash hire I rather have Dooley. Another up and comer could set the program back another 4 years.

I can agree with that

Unless we can make a Homerun hire.. I dont see any point in the university spending all that money to buy him out, just to take a chance on someone else..

Huge name that we are positive is a homerun... or wait till next year and keep searching for one.

But to just fire him and not being absolutely sure who can can get first would be a huge mistake.

We need to move forward and not backwards

P.S. 800th thread on this topic

What do you mean "Another up and comer"? Dooley was never considered an up and comer by anyone who can read a W-L record. An actual up and comer would be a vast improvement.

What about 8-5?

btw, even the most optimistic preseason prediction had us with 9 wins

Not optimistic, more like realistic. If you dont think we should've won at least 2 of the 5 games we've lost then you haven't watched the same team I have. 9-3 is exactly what this team should have finished this year. 10 wins would have been an over acheivement (regular season)and 7 is definately a under acheivement.

I won't say we should've won those games, but I definitely think we could've won at least one of them. Really, could've won 3 ... just a few plays here or there

8-4 regular season seems to be what this team should've done, but that's based off of preseason expectations that don't ever turn out to be true (Our D is worse than we thought and Florida & MsSt are better than we thought)

Unless we can make a Homerun hire..

All the homerun hires in the SEC in the last 30 years have been NFL guys wanting back into college. And it's basically a bigger gamble to get one of those guys than it is to find a solid up and comer.

The only places this BS is really being stirred up is here on VN because all the kids here love to stir the crap.

In the news media because they get PAID to stir up crap and keep people watching or listening to their useless crap.

99% of the real Tennessee fans aren't saying anything because they're smart and know that nothing they say will have anything to do with whatever AD Hart decides to do.

AD Hart and the BIG $$$ boosters/businessmen will look over everything including next seasons projected profits and who can they really hire to come to Tennessee that could do any better next season.

If they can't get a huge HOMERUN hire and we're still in projected profit then CDD and staff will probably be here next season.

All the smart people know that to fire CDD and get the wrong coach could set Tennessee back bad enough that we might not become a SEC powerhouse again for 10 to 30 years if ever again.

It's simply NOT easy to get coaches to come to Tennessee as much as we all hate to admit that.

VFL...GBO!!!

Most expected 8-4 with a win over Florida, and Miss. St. Not gonna happen. 7-5 will be a tough one to call.
