Guys, Lovie may not be the primo choice at this point, but honestly, due to MH's incompetence, he is by far the best choice left on the table. If Cutcliffe, Gruden, Muschamp, and Calhoun are off the table, then that leaves Mike Leach, Kippy and maybe Leavitt. Two of these guys were just fired for inappropriate conduct to an athlete, so I don't think the players would be too excited about them, regardless of whether they are good coaches otherwise.

Kippy? Well, sorry, but he's not ready for this stage.

All that said, Lovie is a big name, with a decent track record and should be a great recruiter given his NFL exposure.

My nightmare scenario though is that he turns it down, that Hammy has no one else to go to and that he has to ask Kippy to take the reigns.

Meeks54, your whole team this year is composed of a recruiting class Calipari ripped from Memphis, the staff ripped from Memphis, and devil magic. It won't last long at all

right. Thats the first time I have heard this. Considering there are 2 players on our team that gave a verbal to UM, I'll take that into consideration. Are coaches not allowed to take better jobs? You should know this friend.

While reading the ESPN article outlining the decision of David Cutcliffe to stay at Duke, I noticed the two names specifically mentioned that UT is interested in was Al Golden (Temple) and Derek Dooley (Louisiana Tech). I did not know much about either of these gentlemen, so I did some research.

Derek Dooley
Son of Vince Dooley (famous Georgia HC), and current coach of Louisiana Tech. After his first year there, the President was so impressed with his diligent work ethic and tireless commitment, he named Dooley the school's Athletic Director. Dooley is serving both roles at that school, and he is slightly over 40 years old. His teams have progressively improved over the last 3 years:

Category 2006 2007 2008
Record 3-10 5-7 8-5
WAC 1-7 4-4 5-3
Turnover Margin -8 +1 +9
Scoring Offense 18.6 20.7 24.6
Scoring Defense 41.7 30.7 23.7
Rushing Offense 130.1 155.2 187.1
Rushing Defense 225.4 137.1 103.8
Special Teams TDs 0 1 5
Blocked Kicks 1 5 5

Take time to read up on this man because he sounds like a very intriguing candidate to me.

Al Golden
Coach Golden is the head coach at Temple. His teams have shown progressive improvement over the 4 years he has been there. Here are the records:
2006: 1-11
2007: 4-8
2008: 5-7
2009: 9-4
He also plays many freshmen. For a few years, he has actually played more freshmen than any other school in the country.

The bears management was praying that lovie smith would take the ut job, so they could hire a better coach and save the $11 mil buyout. Looks now like they are stuck with him for 2 more years of the contract.

Indeed. Didnt have their eye on the real prize.

All the talk of losing early to rest for the real tourney is just crap. Coaches go all out for conference tourneys.

we have over 40 regular season titles and 25 conference titles to go along with 30 elite eights, 13 final fours, and 7 titles. Not to mention over 160 I think wins over UT.

I think we are ok friend.

Virginia McCasky is waiting for the lockout issue to be resolved. They won't budge on Lovie.

UT is going to fork out 11 million plus 5 mil per? :eek:k:

UK is not as bad in football as people would believe. Just like UT in basketball.

UK football in no way compares with UT basketball...starting with the fact that they haven't been ranked in years and haven't beaten #1 probably ever...

Was that really your response? If so, you left out the probation and the years that the AA didnt care while Rupp was being a cheating redneck.
