His current woes are about an awful GM ad defensive injuries.

I don't have an agenda with him. I know he would make a positive impact on recruiting and defense at UT. Nothing more.

If Lovie Smith is indeed in play, he certainly will NOT announce it to the local stations. He does still have a job..........

UT Basketball has been UK's whipping post since the beginning of time. UT has never advanced past the sweet 16, EVER. TN has never won an SEC championship., EVER. UK football however has a share of a national title, I think 3 sec titles, and has recently had wins over, #1 ranked LSU, FSU, Clemson, Auburn, georgia twice.

uummm..... UK football has accomplished WAY more than UT basketball. Check your facts bud.

What exactly is it that you think you know about Lovie Smith? I've been following Chicago Bear football for over 35+ years and even though there alot of folks in Chicago that think it's time for Lovie to go, there is not a better coach to bring to the Vols at this time.

You ever hear of the phrase "Familiarity breeds contempt"? Having lived in Chicago for more than half my life that is just part and parcel of the way sports is played up there. If a fan base can lose faith in Mike Ditka a short 3 years after he coached one of the best teams in the history of the NFL and they crowned him king (for a day as it turns out), then they can lose faith with anyone.

Chicago fans are like a mockingbird...looking for new and shiny things. In their eyes, Lovie has lost his luster. They thought this year if they bring in Cutler...instant SB ring. They forgot to give Cutler anyone else around him to play with and their defense stayed banged up most of the year...but far be it from me to point out the facts. Lovie could do great things for UT, recruiting wise, coaching wise and may be even more importantly, character wise. Doesn't look like it's gonna happen, but I would have been out of my mind crazy to have had Lovie Smith as our new head coach.

Lovie Smith is like Brian Billick. They have to let go of the offense entirely. That is fine. Let Chaney run the offense, and Lovie and Garner as DC run the defense.
