I find it funny that some are putting faith in what a sports talk radio stations reports. Short term memory? Local (Tennessee) sports talk over the past 60 hours has reported that... Muschamp was hired, that Calhoun was hired, and that Cutcliffe was hired.

Don't believe anything until you see an official press release from the University.

Lovie is a bad choice. You should be glad you are not getting him. As far as kicking in THE greatest college basketball program of all times teeth, your point? Spygate?

You own us in football. We have more wins aganst UT than any school has on any team in the nation in basketball. But, the streak will probably end soon. It would have this year had Papa known how to call a proper play at the end of a game.

Aaaaaaaaaaaand ignored.

The Calhoun hire reported here was cited from a Colorado source.

When we're hiring a basketball coach...

We'll still ignore your idiocy.

Whatever..... I just don't think you understand what you are getting when you talk about lovie smith. That's all.

:eek:lol:

Look at this guy. I've seen so many omniscient folks weigh their opinions on here... I don't know who or what to believe! I mean, why hire Lovie Smith when we can have Bobby Petrino.

And I know that you don't get that I don't give a crap about your point of view. Go away.

And, I guarantee you that I know more Lovie Smuth than you. It isn't close.

This proves you know nothing about Lovie Smith.

Smith < Petrino

You do realize were talking about the game where the players put on pads and use that ball that has pointy ends don't you?

All the same, still proves my point. You take what is said over the airwaves with a grain of salt... just like the info on a message board!

I think this is still in play... and frankly, he's the best name I've heard thus far. If this one bombs we might need to start seriously thinking about:

Kippy - HC
Chaney - OC
Thompson - DC
Garner - (throw him a wad of cash to be recruiting coordinator)
Cregg - OL/TE coach
And fill out the remaining staff with good recruiters.

Did I poop in your ice cream or something?

No. You're just lost, yet recommending. Just stop.

Lovie Smith played football for and coached with someone in my family. He's a defensive beast. He and dungy designed the Tampa 2, not Monte. Do some homework.

His current woes are about an awful GM ad defensive injuries.

Steve Spurrier is one of the Vols' most feared opponents, this is because the vols have always overlooked and underestimated himfrom a player to a coach. If Tennessee wants to become a force once again Hamilton will seriously go after Spurrier and finally bring him home and national championships along with him.

I read Lovie's bio last night. It is impressive. Now while everyone is gung ho to bash him, there's one thing that seems to be forgotten... While lovie or any of these guys can coach, it's the players on the field that have to get the job done. Jay Cutler not getting out of the pocket to connect or intentional ground a ball is not the play I'm sure Lovie drew up. It's left up to the rest of the boys to protect him and let him make the drawn up plays. Now I'm not saying that I'm cheering Lovie Smith but I like him and there are a couple of three things working for him. (a) He is familiar with the UT program having been here under PF, (b) he was impressive while at UT, and (c) he did take the CB's to the superbowl and won! Regardless of who is chosen (let me correct that to whoever will accept), that person has to be someone who is going to be committed to our program and play by the ncaa/sec rules :salute:. Talk is cheep (do I hear a little birdie singing in California?:whistling:) Actions speak louder when the new HC puts our program back on the national spotlight in a positive way--not ncaa violations. :hi: GO VOLS!

Spurrier ain't the rebuilding guy at this point in his life.

UK is not as bad in football as people would believe. Just like UT in basketball.

And UK isn't as good as you think they are. They beat up terrible non conference teams including I-AA teams and having a losing record in the SEC. Not to mention they hang banners on their stadium for the Liberty Bowl and the Music City Bowl. They also want to name a field after a coach with a losing record and just a few wins better than a coach they fired (Curry). UK is mediocre at best in football.

UT at least makes the tourney in bball and stays ranked. UK spent how many weeks in the top 25 this year in football? UT also has beaten UK quite a few times the past few years in basketball. May or may not happen this year but UK football cannot be compared to UT basketball.
